Sachin Tendulkar’s maiden ODI hundred against Pakistan came in Singapore in 1996 .. It was a day ODI played in whites with the RED BALL..

Sachin made 100 off 111 balls..
The Pakistan attack had Waqar Younis, Aaqib Javed and Saqlain Mushtaq.

This wasn't modern ODI cricket with two brand-new white balls, heavily optimized batting conditions and the same visual setup we associate with the format today.

Yet whenever Sachin is discussed, some people conveniently remove the era, the ball, the conditions and the context and then compare numbers as if 1996 and today were the same game.

You can create endless “what if Kohli had…” scenarios. But before rewriting Sachin’s career on paper, maybe first understand the cricket he actually played. 😭
