On this Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, we have released two old hymns for the Feast on our YouTube channel, the first of which is this:

On this Feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, a little known fact about the Cathedral is that the Google Street View images were taken on this day in 2024. Children from schools were having a lunch break ahead of singing Mass for the Feast, and were very excited to be pictured!
@McCrimmons@beatricegroves1 And we sang it as the Office Hymn at Vespers yesterday, too and our Director of Music sang it during communion at the morning Mass.
All are welcome in the Cathedral on Wednesday at 5.30-m for Sung Evening Prayer with Benediction on the Solemnity of the Nativity of St John the Baptist. The Cathedral Consort will lead our singing including music by Gibbons.
Friday, 12th June is the Feast of the Sacred Heart. The will be a High Mass at 6pm, at which the Oratory Choir will sing music of Byrd, Gjielo, and Wilton.
The Dream of Gerontius is being performed in the Minster this Saturday.
Fr Richard gave a fascinating pre-concert talk about our Cardinal’s poem, and John Dunford compellingly explained Elgar’s extraordinary new musical language for the score.
Today is the Feast of St. Philip Neri, Apostle of Rome and Founder of the Congregation of the Oratory.
He is one of those great Counter-Reformation saints and whose joy and cheerfulness radiated through all that he did.
Less than a month, now, until the Come and Sing Messiah at the Cathedral on 20 June. Here is what the rehearsal sounded like last year:

The coming week sees the annual Diocesan Lourdes pilgrimage. It was lovely to hear from children, yesterday, who were looking forward to celebrating Pentecost in Lourdes, tomorrow.
We wish all in Lourdes, or en route, a blessed pilgrimage.
