We're offering an in-person Action Learning Set for neurodivergent community artists from January 2025
Connecting a group of people with common professional experiences, Action Learning focuses on the process of exploring work challenges, in a dynamic, facilitated environment promoting trust and safety
Many participants are also members of our weekly string group and facilitator Bela has noticed a marked difference in these individuals' musicality, growth, confidence and experimentation.
Strings Unbarred also had its final session. This project's focus has always been music-making without reading the notes, and what a success it's been.

Sessions can boost a feeling of togetherness, enhancing wellbeing. Some studies have shown that improvisation with others can reduce cortisol, resulting in lower stress and anxiety. Creating 'in the moment' allows us to communicate, process emotions and encourage self-expression
The themes of the session are exploration, listening, playfulness, self-expression, and creating together. These are light-hearted and supportive sessions, with fun and wellbeing as the focus: like a friendly campfire jam session, where every sound is welcome
Most musicians want to do more than simply read notes. They want the ability to create, 'in the moment'
Improvision sessions encourage this. It's liberating, mindful and fun. It helps listening skills, boosts confidence, and allows us time to consider a musical 'response'
‘Love the variety! Thoroughly enjoyable’
‘A non-judgemental and fun space to play with others’
‘I feel free!’
