@SMEInews The #SMEI23 conference was so energising. If only there were single sessions so I could have heard everything. Great chats though and a very engaging event throughout! Shout out to the SMEI team too. A great bunch.
@SMEInews Looking forward to presenting tomorrow at the #SMEI23 conference. I will be assessing language and narrative in music and advocating for a change in how it is talked about and perceived.
@helenlynchmusic It's rampant. I didn't notice it for a long time but the more work I do and more I get involved in different areas of work outside of music, the consensus tends to be that if you are in the arts you don't know what you are on about. Very frustrating!
@helenlynchmusic @composerSD Seriously, people are largely blinded when it comes to the arts. I've been in interviews not directly involved in music but relevant to my work experience where they ask and say the most bizarre and insulting things regardless of what's on my CV.
@helenlynchmusic I get this all the time in the business world. It's really frustrating. I do think it's because of major misconceptions around the arts. Very patronising attitudes. I'm writing a blog at the moment on changing the narratives in the arts and why it needs to happen.
@rachelkmclaugh From my experience, it's a very common reaction. I think I had my licence a year before I stopped thinking about all the what ifs. This might not help you when going through this feeling, but I'm sure you will get through that feeling at some point!
