Congratulations to our Junior Band on their outstanding performance today at the Golden Horseshoe Festival! Their hard work has earned them an invitation to Nationals. Special thanks to Dr. Leah McGray for an inspiring workshop, helping our students explore their creative voices.

Thank you @PeelSchools for the opportunity to perform at the Living Arts Center and the Mississauga Art Museum for hosting us afterwards for a fun afternoon. Our junior band did marvellously!
3/ Battle of the Bands auditions finished up this week. Between moving all of the gear and setting up the tech, it was a hectic Wednesday. It was so wonderful to see all of the talent on display! Stay tuned for our show on May 28th!

Our grade 12 ISU night recitals were on Tuesday (hosted by the woodwind class) and Thursday (hosted by the brass class). They were exciting nights for students to display their musical development. Come out to our last one for the school year on Wednesday, May 8th at 7PM!

Monday morning, the brass students got a workshop with Ronald George, lecturer and French horn teacher at University of Western Ontario.
Our grade 11 instrumentalists were treated to brunch and an AMAZING concert by the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (featuring 2 of our Mayfield music kids) under the direction of Maestro Colin Clarke and featuring the Big Smoke Brass.
Working with the pros! Thanks to Shelley Heron Western University / Detroit Symphony Orchestra (retd.) who shared her wealth of knowledge with our oboes this week. Awesome learning!
Congratulations and many thanks to one of our grade 12 RAP music piano majors, Maile, who represented our department and played for an event at the Peel School Board Office this evening!
Gig night! Learning to act like a pro out on the job. Our Magnetics vocal jazz ensemble performed as the featured artists for the Peel elementary teachers Local awards tonight. Awesome learning and even better community building.
As part of their pop/blues unit, our grade 10 RAP Music students participated in a concert/Q&A with past grads/the band for @micotoronto who will be playing the Budweiser stage June 1 opening for Walk off the Earth! The students loved it! Proud of our Mayfield Music Grads!!!
NYC Update - Dinner at the Grisly Pear, a quick stop by Juilliard and then off to our NY Philharmonic concert. Fantastic music by this exceptional ensemble followed by a sneak peek into the life of an orchestral musician during our private post concert Q&A with cellist Rupei Yeh
NYC Update - Our morning started at the famous Broadway rehearsal space “Pearl Studios” - Check out who else was working there today! Had an awesome 1.5hrs with Jeremy Stolle (Roule/Phantom from Broadway’s “Phantom of the Opera”) and Arri Simon learning, laughing and singing.
NYC Update - we finished off our evening, celebrating a birthday on our trip, and taking in the spectacle that was “Back to the Future - The Musical!” Back at the hotel now to get some sleep before another busy day tomorrow.
