@PathfinderAstro@nikkinoelle7 What do you make of horary astrology? That to me seems more like divination than reading charts anyone can produce at any time.
@ChiefScrobbler@engcathedrals What, and Blue Sky isn’t? It’s fine and good for church organisations to only engage with liberals on liberal platforms and not conservatives on conservative ones? Church organisations (especially in an established church) should not be picking sides like that.
@the_culturist_ The perpendicular vaulting in the nave of Canterbury Cathedral, together with the small clerestory windows, makes it feel particularly forest-like
@PeterOuld@danny__kruger@reformparty_uk Thank you for flagging this - it is very impressive. I have been concerned that Reform is just another opportunistic campaigning organisation and not serious about actually tackling some of the serious issues facing this country. With @danny__kruger maybe that’s not the case…
These are all mainstream (>20% agreement) views in the US (the first 3 are simply the views of the Catholic Church). The fact that the gap between these views and those of the other side (or your own) is wide does not mean they weren’t (and aren’t) mainstream views. A democratic society must be able to accommodate debate between widely-held positions without labelling those positions as extremism.
@Make_it_Raines For academia, think strategically from the outset: what areas are popular and/or will lead to the most jobs, what networks can you join, what will lead to publication/collaboration opportunities. Very easy to go down a rabbit hole and lose sight of the goal. Good luck!
@PathfinderAstro Fair enough! It’s interesting that the Liberty Chart is when the decision was made, not when it was announced or took effect. I wonder if the 1801 UK foundational chart should also be the date the Act of Union was passed or received assent rather than when it took effect…
@PathfinderAstro How does this aspect typically manifest for individuals? I have a triple conjunction of moon, Pluto and mc in the 10th (moon and Pluto in Scorpio, mc in Libra).
@brandenflasch@DHSgov You can attend business meetings, conferences etc under the visa waiver program but cannot accept work or employment in the US - so you can travel as part of your non-US job, but can’t get a job in the US (which is what the backpackers apparently intended to do).
Roughly 60% of US imports from China are consumer goods, and only 25% are intermediate goods. So although there will be significant disruption where companies are relying on those intermediate goods for further manufacturing, in relation to consumer goods, which make up the vast bulk of Chinese imports, there is more flexibility because consumers can choose to buy, say, normal potatoes rather than sweet potatoes, or delay buying that new TV, and it’s only a minor inconvenience. I’m not saying there isn’t a negative effect, especially over the longer term, only that the impact falls harder and faster on China in this situation.
