In one of the most notable moments in sports history, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped thinking he had completed the race.
A Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, and after realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't understand his Spanish.
Fernandez eventually caught up to him and instead of passing him, he pushed him to victory.
A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?"
Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.” The journalist insisted “But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win.” The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”Ivan looked at him & replied, “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of that medal?
What would my Mom think of that?”
Values are transmitted from generation to generation.
What values are we teaching our children?
Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways to WIN.
Jesus' death was caused by religious leaders who marginalized the poor, enforced rules that marginalized many, and abused their positions of power and authority. Jesus challenged the Pharisees' corruption, and they hated Him for doing so.
LGBTQ+ people deserve an apology. For decades, #LDS Church rhetoric demonized them, including attacks that framed homosexuality as a viral contagion that would destroy societal harmony. The @Ch_JesusChrist also justified decades of conversion therapy.

While the @Ch_JesusChrist hoards $billions, it has
* laid off all meetinghouse custodians,
* increased missionary costs by 25%
* changed handbook to say members should seek food assistance from gov't before church
* said it may not use humanitarian donations for that purpose
With its vast wealth, the #LDS could be a world humanitarian leader. Instead, @Ch_JesusChrist lied about the Church's assets while demanding that members be honest. Unacceptable!

Aida Cupcake @MusicalSteven is hitting high notes in this autobiographical revue about how a young tenor finds his voice and ends up at the Fringe in a dress. This show boasts seven costume and wig changes! Can I plausibly pursue this!? https://t.co/ygb19UHC4B
I am happy about this.
Not the settlement amount, which is effectively meaningless as a consequence, but because there’s a public record of @Ch_JesusChrist grossly violating its own alleged principles.
The consequence has to be public discussion of this.

Remember, if you're Mormon, you only have to be as honest as the Church's standard of honesty which permits lying about billions of dollars and paying hush money to protect child abu$ers
February 22nd is the 9th anniversary of me coming out to my folks. The response of my Mormon parents and sibs at the time was not good. These were their words.
Coming out cost me my college career, my job, and my apartment at the time.

@Exmo_Lex Reading the book, "Zealot: the life and times of Jesus of Nazareth" was instrumental for me in evaluating and letting go of the historical Jesus as divine and that happened before leaving the church. As with any other sage, I think it's fine to hold onto his ideas of charity etc.
