Let me count the problems.
Sit ups place significant strain on the lower back and the spine.
For an elderly man this risk increases substantially.
Adding a resistance band increases that strain further.
More force through a spine that has had decades to accumulate wear.
And here is the part that makes this genuinely pointless on top of being risky.
Sit ups with a resistance band do not burn belly fat.
Not for a 25 year old. Not for a 65 year old.
You cannot spot reduce fat from any area of the body including the belly.
So this man is being put through an exercise that carries real injury risk for his age.
To achieve a result that exercise cannot produce for anyone at any age.
That is the situation.
If this man was my client here is exactly what I would be doing instead.
