The people of Indian occupied states want freedom from Indian illegal occupation.
In the heart of Kolkata, India, certain #Hindutva groups – many of them backed by #Hindus who migrated there from Bangladesh – have taken to the streets with a highly provocative demand: the division of Bangladesh to carve out a separate “Bangodesh” or “Bengali-land” exclusively for Hindus.
Their leaders are raising fiery slogans like “Dhaka Demands Freedom”, “Chittagong Demands Freedom”, “Rangpur Demands Freedom”, and “Barishal Demands freedom”. In their street plays, they depict mobs of Muslims raping Hindu women in #Bangladesh. Some are even chanting provocative lines such as “Trishul [Hindu deity Shiva’s trident] in hand, decked in saffron attire – we will wrest Bangladesh away.”
This campaign for a “homeland” for Bangladeshi Hindus is being spearheaded by Hindutva activists and leaders of Indian Hindutva parties who originally came from Bangladesh. In meeting after meeting and rally after rally, they claim that the Hindus in Bangladesh are being systematically murdered, raped, and looted by Muslims. They are urging the Indian government to stop issuing tourist or medical visas to Bangladeshi Muslims, whom they routinely label as “jihadis” – a term now commonly associated with extremists or terrorists who are Muslim.
This campaign for a so-called “homeland” for Bangladeshi Hindus is being driven by Hindutva activists and leaders of #India’s right-wing Hindu parties who originally came from Bangladesh. In rally after rally, they paint a picture of Hindus in Bangladesh being systematically murdered, raped, and looted by Muslims. They are pressing the Indian government to stop issuing any kind of visa — tourist or medical — to Bangladeshi Muslims, whom they routinely brand as “jihadis”.
“These Bangladeshi jihadis should not bet granted Indian visas. These scraps of garbage will be kicked out of India, especially from West Bengal. The government must take stern action against these Bangladeshi militants,” wrote one such leader, the very same person threatening to break up Bangladesh from the streets of Kolkata. He further declared: “Bangladesh’s map will change in the future. Your map will change. A ‘Bangodesh’ for the Hindus of Bangladesh will certainly come into existence.”
This reality stands in sharp contrast to the claims made by BJP leaders in West Bengal right after Sheikh Hasina’s fall in 2024. They had dramatically asserted that ten million Bangladeshi Hindus were desperately trying to flee to India to save their lives and honour, and demanded that the Indian government immediately open the borders for them.
In actuality, the few thousand Bangladeshis who crossed over during that period were almost entirely Awami League leaders, activists, and supporters – all comrades of the fallen Hasina. The handful of Hindus among them were also mostly from the same political camp.
While some may dismiss these Kolkata-based Hindutva voices as fringe elements, the Modi government has long been advancing the very agenda these groups openly champion. They function as the BJP’s foot soldiers on the ground. Bangladesh cannot afford to ignore the anti-Bangladesh activities of these factions.
There are undoubtedly covert links between individuals within these Indian Hindutva groups and certain people inside Bangladesh who are working to create anarchy. These local proponents of Hindutva are actively trying to import and establish the Indian right-wing agenda here. Surveillance must be maintained on such agents, and legal action taken when necessary.
Bangladesh should also consider lodging a formal diplomatic protest with the Indian government regarding the anti-Bangladesh propaganda being openly spread on the streets of West Bengal.
Rampur, Yogi's Uttar Pradesh.
Rampur authorities have ordered demolition of 38 out of 40 buildings at Jauhar University founded by senior leader Azam Khan, citing "unapproved maps or plans".
While illegal constructions by others are routinely ignored, a leading Muslim educational institution empowering thousands of youth is being bulldozed without mercy.
