How Does Islam Manage Anger?
Anger is natural.
What matters is how you respond.
Islam teaches that true strength isn't defeating others—it's mastering yourself.

A Prayer to Follow the Prophet's Example
May Allah enable us all to follow these teachings and remain permanently grateful to Him.

The Qualities of a Grateful Believer
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) said:
“O Abu Hurairah, practise scrupulous righteousness and you will become the most devoted of people. Be content with what Allah has given you and you will become the most grateful of people. Love for others what you love for yourself and you will be a true believer. Treat your neighbours well and you will be a true Muslim. Laugh less, for excessive laughter deadens the heart.”
Hazrat Aishah (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) remembered Allah at all times and in every state.

Four Blessings of This World and the Hereafter
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) said:
“Four things are among the blessings of this world and the Hereafter: a grateful heart, a tongue occupied with the remembrance of Allah, a body that remains patient during trials, and a righteous wife who remains faithful regarding herself and her husband’s wealth.”

The Way of the Grateful
The Holy Prophet (sa) said:
“Whoever looks in matters of religion towards those who are superior to him and follows their example, while looking in worldly matters towards those who possess less than him and praising Allah for His blessings, is recorded by Allah among the grateful and the patient.”

Gratitude for Allah's Glad Tidings
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Auf (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) went towards one of his orchards, faced the direction of the Ka‘bah, and fell into a prolonged prostration. The prostration lasted so long that Hazrat Abdur Rahman (ra) feared that Allah may have taken his soul.
The Holy Prophet (sa) later explained that Hazrat Jibril (as) had brought him the glad tidings that Allah would bestow mercy upon whoever invoked blessings upon him and would grant peace to whoever sent salutations upon him. The Holy Prophet (sa) therefore prostrated in gratitude to Allah.

Prostrating in Gratitude
Hazrat Abu Bakrah (ra) narrated that whenever the Holy Prophet (sa) received joyful news or something happened that pleased him, he would immediately fall into prostration in gratitude to Allah.
Hazrat Anas bin Malik (ra) likewise narrated that when the Holy Prophet (sa) was given glad tidings that a need had been fulfilled, he fell into prostration.

Gratitude for the Acceptance of Islam
Hazrat Bara bin Azib (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) first sent Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (ra) to invite the people of Yemen to Islam. Later, he sent Hazrat Ali (ra), who recited the letter of the Holy Prophet (sa) before them, and the entire tribe of Hamdan accepted Islam.
When Hazrat Ali (ra) wrote to inform the Holy Prophet (sa), he fell into prostration in gratitude to Allah. He then raised his head and said twice:
“Peace be upon Hamdan.”

Humility in Victory
The Promised Messiah (as) said that the spiritual elevation granted to Allah’s chosen servants is always accompanied by humility, whereas Satan’s elevation was tainted by arrogance.
When the Holy Prophet (sa) conquered Makkah, he bowed his head and prostrated before Allah just as he had done during the days of persecution and hardship there. Remembering the condition in which he had once left Makkah and the condition in which he had now returned, his heart overflowed with gratitude to Allah, and he fell into prostration.

Gratitude at the Conquest of Makkah
It is narrated that at the Conquest of Makkah, the Holy Prophet (sa) stood at the Ka‘bah and praised Allah, saying:
“There is no god but Allah alone; He has no partner. He fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the confederates by Himself.”
Hazrat Umm Hani (ra) narrated that on the day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Holy Prophet (sa) entered her house, performed ghusl, and offered eight rak‘ahs of prayer. She said that she had never seen him perform a prayer more lightly, although he completed its bowing and prostration properly.

Gratitude After the Victory at Badr
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas‘ud (ra) narrated that after the Battle of Badr, he came to the Holy Prophet (sa) and said:
“O Messenger of Allah, Allah has caused Abu Jahl to be killed.”
The Holy Prophet (sa) asked three times:
“By Allah, besides Whom there is no god?”
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas‘ud (ra) confirmed this each time. The Holy Prophet (sa) then went with him, stood over Abu Jahl, and said:
“Allah is the Greatest. All praise belongs to Allah, Who fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the confederates by Himself. This was the Pharaoh of this Ummah.”

Praising Allah After Victory
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (ra) narrated that whenever the Holy Prophet (sa) returned from a military expedition, Hajj, or Umrah, he would say "Allahu Akbar" three times upon every elevated place, and then pray:
“There is no god but Allah alone; He has no partner. To Him belongs all sovereignty and all praise, and He has power over all things. We return, repent, worship, prostrate, and praise our Lord. Allah has fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the confederates by Himself.”
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas‘ud (ra) reported to the Holy Prophet (sa) that Allah had caused Abu Jahl to be killed at the Battle of Badr. The Holy Prophet (sa) said:
“Allah is the Greatest. All praise belongs to Allah, Who fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the confederates by Himself.”
After the Battle of Badr, the Holy Prophet (sa) stood beside the pit into which the slain leaders of the disbelievers had been placed and addressed them by name:
“Would it not have pleased you to have obeyed Allah and His Messenger? We have certainly found our Lord’s promise to us to be true.”

Gratitude for the Blessing of Clothing
Hazrat Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri (ra) narrated that whenever the Holy Prophet (sa) put on a new garment—whether a turban, shirt, or cloak—he would name it and pray:
“O Allah, all praise belongs to You. You have clothed me with it. I ask You for its goodness and the goodness for which it was made, and I seek Your protection from its evil and the evil for which it was made.”
Hazrat Aishah (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) taught that when Allah grants a person a blessing and he praises Allah for it, his gratitude is accepted; when he commits a sin and immediately regrets it, his repentance is accepted; and when he puts on a new garment and praises Allah, he fulfils the gratitude due for that blessing.

Beauty Without Arrogance
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas‘ud (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) said:
“No one who has even an atom’s weight of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.”
A man asked whether liking fine clothes and good shoes was arrogance. The Holy Prophet (sa) replied:
“Allah is beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance means rejecting the truth and looking down upon people.”

Cleanliness as a Reflection of Gratitude
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (ra) narrated that the Holy Prophet (sa) once saw a man whose hair was dishevelled and said:
“Could he not find something with which to arrange his hair?”
He then saw another man wearing dirty clothes and said:
“Could he not find water with which to wash his clothes?”
