Abiy is wrong on every front—and he’s not the first to follow this misguided path. Unfortunately for him, he has completely discredited himself. Someone needs to remind him to be careful; his over-ambition is becoming reckless.
He imagines himself as a reincarnated Menelik II, chasing the old dream of reaching the sea, just as Haile Selassie once did. Now Abiy believes he can revive that ambition and has even declared he is willing to go to war to achieve it. #Ethiopia is once again talking in the language of irredentism and it is isolated.
But the world is not buying it. Egypt, Turkey, and the United States have all said no. Abiy has miscalculated spectacularly—he stands isolated. Even the Nobel Prize he once boasted about is now viewed with regret in Europe.
Kenya, too, must say no...... A Kenyan expert said.
Let us not mince our words and call a Spade a Spade!
1. The Potemkin Party has been obsessed/immersed in unparalleled military expenditure spree in the last three years.
2. In the last three quarters of 2026 alone, the regime has received 365 UAE Cargo/military deliveries for use in its multiple domestic conflicts and concomitant acts/designs of regional destablization.
3. At the same time, the regime has received - and these are conservative estimates - over 30 billion US Dollars in cumulative external financial assistance in the last eight years from several multilateral and bilateral donors.
4. And yet, almost 21.4 million people all over the country remain in dire conditions whose survival depends on humanitarian assistance.
In a nutshell, the priorities of this callous regime are crystal clear; reckless wars of delusional "grandeur" in lieu of the welfare of the majority of its people and enduring regional peace and stability.
General Sibhat Ephrem putting into conext regarding Menelik’s ignorance regarding the Red Sea and the Suez Canal during his reign. While he is credited with laying the foundations of the Ethiopian empire and introducing schools and hospitals, Menelik remained preoccupied with conquering the underdeveloped Oromo hinterland and never turned his attention toward the Red Sea. Remarkably, until his death in 1916, he was unaware of the developments surrounding the Red Sea and Suez Canal.
No wonder Abiy never gave a single interview in English with any International Media. All the diatribe he regurgitates in Amharic/Afan Oromo to convince &confuse the gullible PP congregation can never pass with the international audiences. His premiership would be discounted by 7 years 🤣🤣
I am attending the Scandinavian Eritrean Festival in Stockholm, Sweden, for the second time. Once again, I am deeply impressed by the community’s dignity, grace, discipline, joy, and unity. These qualities reflect a determined people committed to succeeding and thriving wherever they are.
The contrast from previous years is striking. During earlier festivals, Eritreans faced violent attempts to disrupt and shut down these community gatherings. Many Eritreans also felt that public discourse and official narratives reduced them to political labels rather than seeing them for who they are.
What was often overlooked was an extraordinary community defined by its values, history, identity, and deep sense of belonging. The love Eritreans have for one another, their pride in their heritage, and their respect for the country they now call home are evident throughout this festival. At a time when much of Europe is grappling with growing anti-immigrant sentiment, the vibrancy, organization, civic engagement, and unity of the Eritrean community stand out in a remarkable way.
This year, I had the opportunity to meet Swedish officials who were attending the festival, engaging with community members, and listening to their perspectives. With elections approaching, many are also reaching out to Eritrean voters. That represents a notable change from previous years and an acknowledgment that the Eritrean community is an active and valued part of Swedish society.
There is still work to be done. Misunderstandings and long-held assumptions do not disappear overnight. But compared to last year, I sensed a greater willingness to engage. That is encouraging, and it reinforces the importance of continuing to build understanding through dialogue, mutual respect, and firsthand experience.

No wonder that Mr. Plaut who championed burning down Eritrean Embassies is having difficulty to accept that Eritrea has independent choice on with whom it engages ነጻ ሕርያ, and is a sovereign and equal member of the UN ኣብ ዓለም ጨቢጣቶ ግቡእ ክብራ.
A very good analysis on UAE's patronizing and using Abiy (Not #Ethiopia) from the very start of Abiymania. Although, there is some over emphasis on the UAE's role on saving Abiy from loosing power in 2021, but still interesting read on UAE's imperial expansionist plans in #Africa by using Abiy as a Trojan Horse...
In fact it is worse than that, Not only was it not colonised, over the decades, it has received 10Os of Billions from global powers, yet because of the myopic and expansionist #Ethiopian leaders, it has dragged all its neighbours into war and under development, and the current leader (Abiy Ahmed) is the worst example; he has declared war on its own people.
Sovereignty vs. Hegemonic Ambition: Ethiopia’s Expansionist Quest for Outlet to the Sea

The PP's deliberate conflation of commercial needs with territorial expansion – shifting from commercial 'access', to claims of 'ownership' ... to challenging 'the very legitimacy of Eritrean statehood' is not a matter of economic necessity and/or securing digital privacy. It is, rather, an obsolete hegemonic aspiration deeply woven into the very nature of the current Ethiopian regime. Such a stance represents a flagrant violation of international law and the African Union’s core principle on the sanctity of inherited colonial borders".

#AbiyAhmed, the liar-in-chief of #Ethiopia told his parliment this week he sent his then minister Andargachew to Eritrea to confront Eritrean officials about EDF. Today that minister says he he was sent to Eritrea to praise not confront . Is there Noble Prize for Lying?

Eri-TV and Radio Dmitsi Hafash will conduct an interview with President Isaias Afwerki today - Monday, January 12th - on current international, regional and domestic issues.
The interview will be broadcast live by both services at 8:00 p.m. local time.
An organization that has abandoned its legal mandate, ceased to provide strategic value to its members, and failed to contribute to regional stability leaves no meaningful basis for continued membership. #Eritrea|s decision to withdraw is therefore both principled and necessary under such circumstances.
International jurisprudence and state practice make clear that membership in an international organization is neither irrevocable nor unconditional. States do not surrender their sovereignty or freedom of action by joining an organization; their consent endures only so long as the institution operates within the mandate, purposes, and powers conferred by its founding treaty. When that legal foundation is eroded, the obligation to remain bound erodes with it.
Across regions, states have lawfully withdrawn from organizations that deviate from their mandates or cease to serve the collective interests of their members. Under international institutional law, no state is required to continue participating in an entity that has abandoned its object and purpose, exceeded its delegated authority, or failed to carry out its core responsibilities. Persistent ultra vires conduct and institutional dysfunction constitute material non-compliance with the founding agreement.
States cannot be compelled to accept institutional practices that fundamentally depart from the constitutive instrument. State consent, never presumed and never perpetual, is conditional on the organization’s adherence to its treaty-based obligations.
Membership in international organizations is voluntary, conditional, and anchored in legality. States retain the sovereign right to withdraw when an institution no longer performs the functions or serves the purposes for which it was established. This principle provides the legal and logical foundation for #Eritrea|s decision...
