“Hapi derën e shtëpisë një serbi dhe ditën tjetër ai do të kërkojë gjysmën e saj sikur e ka të drejtën e vet, ndërsa të pasnesërmen ai do të përpiqet të të flakë nga dritarja e shtëpisë sate, sikur je ti ai që ke hyrë me zorë.” - Faik Konica
On the 27th anniversary of Kosovo’s Liberation, we honor the heroes, martyrs, and families whose sacrifice made freedom possible. We remember the vision of President Ibrahim Rugova, the courage of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and the unwavering support of our NATO allies.
Kosovo will forever remain free, independent, sovereign, and determined to move forward. Our gratitude is eternal. 🇽🇰
Fun fact:
During World War II, Albania (which at the time included the territory of present-day Kosova) did not hand over its Jewish population to the Nazi regime. In fact, more Jews were sheltered in Albania during the war than had lived there before it.
It is also true that some Albanians joined Axis-aligned formations. Their motivation, however, was not ideological loyalty to Nazism, but the opportunity to end Serbian rule imposed after 1918.
Many Albanians would have accepted support from any power available if it meant escaping an occupation they viewed as oppressive. That historical reality should be understood in its context rather than reduced to simplistic labels.
What is often omitted from these discussions is the record of collaboration in Serbia itself. The collaborationist administration of Milan Nedić worked closely with Nazi authorities, and Serbia became one of the first territories in Europe proclaimed Judenfrei ("free of Jews"). The number of Jews murdered in occupied Serbia was devastating, and Nazi officials themselves acknowledged the efficiency with which the Jewish population had been eliminated.
So if the discussion is about collaboration during World War II, then the historical record should be examined in full, not selectively.

27 years ago today, Kosovo was liberated from Serbian occupation.
No amount of historical revisionism can change the facts: Kosovo's liberation struggle and NATO's intervention were noble and just.

The protest has attracted attention from people all over the world.
And I think if you knew Albanian history, you would understand why majority Albanians feel so strongly about these issues.
We survived and endured through Roman, Byzantine, Slavic, and Ottoman rule. We preserved our language, identity, and connection to our land despite centuries of foreign domination…
As for Iran, Russia, or Serbia, please don’t offend me. They are the last places I would ever look to. My views are my own.
However, I can say this: Albanians have been and continue to be among America’s most loyal friends, and I am proud of that.
& I think it’s best we end the conversation as well.
Thank you for the exchange.
I’m not connecting this land to Israel or the Jewish. In fact, since you previously stated that anyone could invest in this project, I’m under the impression that you’re the one trying to connect two completely separate issues.
My point is much simpler: gratitude and national interests are not the same thing. Being thankful to people who helped Albanians does not mean I stop caring about Albania, its land, or its future.
You misunderstood me. I have nothing against Israel or Jewish people, not even a little. When Albanians came to America as refugees, Jewish organizations in New Jersey helped my people in every possible way, and I will always be thankful for that.
But gratitude does not mean giving up what belongs to us. What is ours is ours: our land, our identity, our inheritance, and our children’s future. 🇦🇱
The point is not that an Albanian owner automatically guarantees a better outcome. The point is that strategic land remains in Albanian hands.
Today it may be a luxury resort. Tomorrow it could be sold, transferred, or used for something none of us can predict. When ownership is local, Albanians retain a greater voice in the future of that land.
This is not about being against investment. It is about ownership, influence, and ensuring future generations have a say in what happens on their own land. For me, that is a legitimate concern.
For more than 35 years, investing in Albania has not always been easy, even for Albanians from Kosova, despite us being one nation. Only a small number have made significant investments.
This discussion is not just about foreign investors. So no hard feelings. Many Albanians believe opportunities should be fair and accessible to Albanians themselves, whether from Albania, Kosova, or the diaspora.
Being critical of a specific project does not mean opposing investment. It means asking who benefits, under what conditions, and whether Albanians have the same opportunities in their own country.
Dude, I left because of Serbian occupation and the political reality Albanians faced in Kosova at the time. I left simply to survive because I refused to live without freedom.
So before making assumptions, take a moment to consider that not everyone leaves their homeland for the same reasons.
And yes, I will always be proud and honored to be Albanian. 🇦🇱
We are not learning from anyone. If anything, the world can learn from us. Albanians have been defending their land, identity, and future for centuries.
People speak up when they care about their homeland, what they leave to their children, and what future they want for the next generation. Standing up for what you believe belongs to your people is nothing new for us as Albanians. 🇦🇱
@MiaDautaj One of the most civilised, peaceful and dignified protests globally, let alone in Albania.
Hope they stay on message, fighting corruption and defending the country from foreign hostile influences. 🫶🇦🇱👐
