Today is May 5, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives. We wear red to honor those we have lost and to demand the justice they deserve. No more stolen relatives.
Yakoke (thank you) to the @ChickasawNation Cultural Center for welcoming some of our MHS Native American Club students last Friday! We got a tour of the museum and the traditional village, and we enjoyed a dance demonstration! If you’ve never visited this site, please do! ❤️
Yesterday, MHS Native American Club and FCCLA collaborated in a volunteer outing to Feed the Children. We packed over 400 boxes of food for families in the area. Thank you, Feed the Children, for welcoming us every year and for your efforts to ensure that no child goes hungry. ❤️

It’s Word Wednesday! Let’s talk about treaties. Did you know that treaties between tribal nations and the United States were not written with expiration dates? Ending a treaty requires an abrogation act from Congress, and very few treaties have ever been abrogated.
