Random Eed observations:

1. The Imam should stick to Suratul Ala and Ghashiyah in the Eed prayer. There's no reason to prolong the Eed prayer with lengthy recitation while the Sun hits worshippers...and you're under an umbrella.

2. Worshippers should try wait for the khutbah and wait till the Imam slaughters his goat/ram/cow/camel. Ergo the khutbah should be short too.

3. It is a shame if the Imam slaughters an animal that doesn't belong to him. The Imam should buy his own animal, even if it is the yoruba dwarf goat. The congregation can contribute an amount to buy the ram/goat/cow/camel for the Imam.

4. West Africa and perhaps the Arab Maghreb holds the ram to be the best of sacrificial animals hence the price of rams skyrockets during this season. Note that goats are also valid.

5. The proliferation of Masjids , Jumuah masjid and Eed grounds is an INNOVATION of this century. I was in Ilorin a couple of days ago and noticed the Lagos madness of unwarranted masajid is also taking ground there.

Ideally, a new mosque should only be built where the natural voice of the mu'adhdhin from the nearest mosque can no longer be heard. And a Jumuah mosque should only be one in a community. Now we are having multiple Eed grounds !

Inasmuch as the Eed Imam is not a kafir , pls pray in the older Eed ground.

6. We pray Eed in the open field not in Mosques. Unless there's rain or circumstances outside our control, this is where the Eed should be held.

7. The days of Eed are days of eating, drinking and making merry don't use it to create problems for your family.

It is also naive to think that candidates need a Hijab to cheat in JAMB exams. The exams have gone technical, and so have the cheating techniques.

Last year, JAMB reported that 6,319 candidates were involved in technology-assisted malpractices. The breakdown doesn’t suggest they needed a Hijab.

4,251 candidates were involved in “finger blending,” where they tried to manipulate fingerprint biometrics so the system couldn’t clearly identify them.

190 cases of AI-assisted image morphing through which they superimpose other people's images to deceive facial recognition systems or human reviewers validating their entry.

Worse, 1,878 candidates falsely declared that they had albinism, all in an effort to cheat. That’s the extent to which cheats go to beat the system.

Of course, cheats evolve new strategies every year, and examiners must keep up and get on top of them, but that proactiveness should not degenerate into discrimination.

Ejikeme Mmesoma, who got scholarships and awards in 2023, did not wear a Hijab. In fact, she didn’t even need to blend her finger, morph her image, or feign albinism. She simply forged her JAMB result and people fell over themselves to award her scholarships and prizes.

Hijab is not the problem. Cheating is, and that’s what these JAMB examination centres should focus on, and leave female Muslim candidates alone with their Hijabs.

Every now and again, the Muslim girls’ right to religion is trampled on by intolerant people under the guide of education.

This might have been resolved. But it is a recurring symptom of a deeper underlying issue.

That narrative didn’t appear overnight. Targeted campaign has been ran against Muslims in the SM space, movies, churches, and schools. People have been brainwashed to think “big” hijabs = extremism.

If they can run campaigns, we can too. We can and should run counter campaigns (jungles, TV broadcasts, PSAs on SM platforms etc) with aims to

1. Educate our Muslim sisters on their rights
2. Remind the public what freedom of religious expression actually means and not trample on those rights.

I am calling on Religious leaders, creatives, influencers and KOLs to collaborate on running this counter campaign measures.

*OFFICIAL REPORT ON INCIDENT AT ESTHER OSHIKOYA CBT CENTRE*

At approximately 6:45 AM today (16/04/2026), a candidate scheduled for the 6:30 AM (7:00 AM) session, Fatimah Salaudeen from Aperin-Elekuro Area Council, arrived at the centre. Upon arrival, she met other candidates already being arranged for entry. Some female candidates had reportedly been instructed to remove their head coverings (hijab), which they complied with.

Upon Fatimah’s turn, she was hesitant to remove her hijab. Her initial resistance to this directive led to a confrontation, which subsequently escalated tensions at the venue. The situation was further aggravated by some parents present, including Muslims, whose reactions suggested it was ‘just removing and tying.’

The student in question later complied with the directive, and this compliance formed the basis of the incident captured in the trending video.

Members of MSSN arrived at the centre shortly after 7:00 AM and raised concerns regarding the situation. Within minutes, some parents who had earlier complied began to reconsider their stance. About five minutes later, the Resident Monitor from the University of Ilorin intervened promptly, expressed strong disapproval of the situation, and helped to de-escalate tensions. Subsequently, the Centre Supervisor and other officials came down to assess the situation.

At the time of the incident, only two officers were present at the scene, while other officials were inside the centre attending to ongoing examination processes.

At about 9:50 AM, additional MSSN delegations were on ground, and a meeting with centre officials was held.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), led by Mr. Koleoso (Head of Operations, Oyo State), arrived with a patrol team. He acknowledged receiving multiple reports from Abuja and clarified that the actions of the officer involved did not reflect the policies of the centre, NSCDC, or JAMB.

Mr. and Mrs. Oshikoya, owners of the centre, expressed shock at the situation, noting that no such religious incident had occurred in over 11 years of operating the centre. Mr. Oshikoya further stated that they are not concerned with searching procedures, entrance protocols, examination operations, or thumbprinting processes. His primary concern is ensuring the smooth conduct of the examination, and he added that he had been moving ‘helter-skelter’ to restore order and ensure smooth running of the centre.

The Centre Supervisor, Prof. Abdullahi Oriire (University of Abuja), stated that the screening process had been proceeding smoothly, with several properly dressed Muslim female candidates already admitted without issues. He expressed surprise at the unfortunate incident and assured that such would not recur.

A senior police officer and his team also intervened to restore calm.

The officer involved in the incident has since been replaced, and normal activities have resumed without further disruption.

Please be cautious when buying petrol at filling stations. It’s the second time they’ve tried to scam me. The first incident happened at NNPC filling stations in Ojodu and the second this morning at Mobil Petrol and CNG station at the Challenge bus stop, Vono along the Agege motorway. After informing the attendant of the petrol amount I wanted, they programmed the same amount into the machine and started dispensing it. Suddenly, the machine stopped and the exact amount began blinking on the digital display.

The first time at NNPC, I hadn’t experienced anything like it but was sceptical. I asked why the display only showed the figure and not the litres I bought. He said, “He thinks they changed the power switch, that’s why it’s like that.” It was early morning and I was travelling, so I wanted to believe him and continue on my way. However, I wasn’t convinced. I asked if the power was stable now and he said yes. I then asked, “Please display the total litres sold.” When I checked the last sale amount, it wasn’t up to what I wanted. After some back-and-forth, he called his colleague who pressed buttons on the other side of the machine. The exact amount he had dispensed then appeared on the display. I think he shorted me about 7-8k. I simply asked him to finish my petrol and left.

When I saw the same digital display blinking this morning, I knew the lady was trying to pull a fast one on me. I asked why the display was blinking and she said the light went off and all that. I told her to pull the litres sold and she called her colleague. Suddenly, the exact amount she had sold appeared on the display. She had shorted me about 5-6k without me asking. She did the calculations and completed my sale.

I’m certain they’ve successfully stolen from many people. Please be vigilant.
