It was a pleasure to meet my brother, H.E. Demeke Mekonnen Hassen, earlier this week.

As Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, his leadership was instrumental in deepening cooperation between Ethiopia and the @OSC_OCS — culminating in Addis Ababa’s successful bid and selection as the international seat of our collective Organisation.

Today, as Founder and Chairperson of the @yadamfoundation, he continues to embody visionary leadership within our Greater South.

We explored new avenues for collaboration between the Foundation’s One Nutrition initiatives — advancing the fight against malnutrition across Africa — and the OSC’s systemic programmes driving a transformative,Third Way of Development — from and by the Greater South, for Humanity.

Together, we reaffirmed our joint commitment to the building of a more equitable, dignified, and prosperous future for all — grounded in the human dimension of our shared ideals.

Secretary-General @MBinMussallam held a fruitful meeting with Dr. @RBissoonauth, Director of the @UNESCO_Addis Liaison Office to the African Union (AU), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and Representative to Ethiopia, accompanied by Mr. Ali Daou, Head of UNESCO’s Culture Programme, Dr. Abdoulaye Salifou, Chief Education Sector Specialist, Higher Education, AI & ICTs, and Mr. Rodney Ondjika, Liaison Officer.

The exchanges explored avenues for strengthened cooperation between the OSC and UNESCO, particularly in the areas of education, culture, and innovation — reinforcing their shared vision of promoting inclusive development and fostering mutual understanding across the Greater South.

When the global structures of power no longer serve the common good, ours becomes the historic duty of reconstruction.

Yet the arch of History does not bend on its own, but by the will of the united.

Through shared purpose, the Greater South must find the collective leverage to build a multilateralism that mirrors Humanity itself: diverse, dignified, and determined to stand as one.

And, in that pursuit, blossoms a promise renewed — that the world’s destiny shall belong to all, not to a few.

The whole world, from the poles to the tropics, feels the tremor of a model in its death throes, even though it refuses to die. Democracies are in crisis, social contracts have been mutilated, promises of universal wellbeing have been replaced by pacts of precarity. The air is unbreathable, the waters polluted, food has been commodified, and knowledge is concentrated in digital fortresses inaccessible to most. The Peoples are exhausted, the institutions delegitimised, and the leaders—with honourable exceptions—act as administrators of the disintegration.

However, amidst this twilight, not all has been said. The die has been cast—that much is true—but it has not yet touched the table. It rolls, in this uncertain hour, as the symbol of a destiny still unsealed. And I, not being a gambling man, prefer not to remain on tenterhooks, awaiting the whims of the throw. Rather, I propose that we question the game itself: What rules are we following? What kind of table is this? What possible victory could ever redeem such a game?

Because if we do not—if we neither change the rules nor the table, if we fail to renounce the game that has stripped us of our humanity—then it will be impossible to say whether the South is about to rise… or to break apart.

Third day of the OSC official visit to Burkina Faso🇧🇫.

Secretary-General @MBinMussallam held fruitful meetings in Ouagadougou with H.E. Aboubakar Nacanabo, Minister of Economy, Finance and Forecasting; H.E. Dr. Amadou Dicko, Minister Delegate to the Minister of State, Minister for Agriculture, Animal, and Fisheries Resources in charge of Animal Resources, and H.E. Aminata Zerbo-Sabané, Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications.

The exchanges focused on strengthening cooperation between both parties: from the Greater South Development Bank and the transformation of the international financial architecture to the creation of new production chains of high value-added agricultural products, passing by the Southern Comission of Artificial Intelligence and the establishment of sovereign Data Centers.
