Our day two engagement with the Africa Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI) formed part of our ongoing efforts to advance my legacy goal of reducing youth unemployment from 58% to 50% by 2027, and ultimately to 10% by 2032, through the creation of 280,000 decent jobs for young people across Machakos County.
The discussions focused on strengthening performance management, leveraging data for informed decision-making, and enhancing service delivery to accelerate the county's development and support the achievement of this legacy goal.
The delegation also visited key initiatives, including Machahood Studios, the County Aggregation and Industrial Park (CAIP), Kyemutheke Vocational Training Centre, and the Digital Hub in Athi River, among other projects, all of which contribute to building local capacity and creating up to 44,000 new job opportunities for young people by 2027.
I sincerely thank Ms. Lesego Tshuwa and Dr. Chukwuma Okolie, City Data Advisors from the Africa Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI), for their valuable engagement, knowledge sharing, and partnership.
The newly constructed Tala Market Stalls have transformed the trading environment by replacing makeshift structures with modern, organised and dignified business spaces.
Traders now have a safer and more conducive environment to conduct business, while customers enjoy an improved market experience.
The upgraded market is expected to stimulate commercial activity, strengthen small businesses, create employment opportunities and increase household incomes, further positioning Tala as a vibrant commercial hub.
Securing Water, Sustaining Livelihoods
The inspection of Kwa Ndeto Dam in Kyaume highlights our commitment to investing in sustainable water infrastructure that transforms lives and livelihoods.
The dam has improved access to water for domestic use and irrigation, supporting vegetable farming in Tala and neighbouring communities while creating additional income opportunities through fish harvesting.
To enhance its sustainability, the dam will be fenced to protect the water source. A designated water tank will provide clean water for domestic use, while livestock will access water through external troughs. These improvements will safeguard water quality, promote efficient use, and ensure the dam continues to serve the community for generations to come.
Development is not about politics,it is about improving the lives of our people.
The Constitution envisions cooperation between the National and County Governments, and that is the spirit in which we continue to deliver projects across Machakos. Whether it is expanding access to clean water, strengthening healthcare, or investing in other essential services, every initiative that benefits our residents deserves our full support.
Our priority remains clear: working with all partners to deliver quality services, accelerate development, and improve the livelihoods of every family in Machakos.
Expanding Access to Clean and Reliable Water.
As a devolved function, water service provision remains a key priority of my administration. We will continue investing in projects that expand access to clean, safe, and reliable water for our people.
Inspected the St. Mary's Catholic Church Borehole in Tala, a transformative project that will provide a dependable source of clean water for the church congregation. Through the completed water reticulation network, the project will also supply clean water to the surrounding community, easing the burden of water shortages and improving the quality of life for many households.
Access to clean water is fundamental to health, dignity, and sustainable development, and we remain committed to ensuring no community is left behind.
For more than four decades, Maluva Dam remained largely underutilized. Today, following its rehabilitation, it is transforming livelihoods by supporting fruit cultivation, creating employment opportunities, and boosting household incomes across the area.
A great breakdown of the goon that was Cecil Ouma and his link to PS Fikirini Jacobs which led to his untimely death. That you @bonifacemwangi for this video.
My administration is investing in sustainable water infrastructure to improve livelihoods and strengthen climate resilience.
Maluva Dam in Sengani continues to support surrounding communities by providing water for domestic use, livestock, and agriculture.
The dam was desilted and stocked with fish, laying the foundation for aquaculture and creating future income-generating opportunities once fishing activities are fully launched.
To safeguard these gains, the dam will be fenced to ensure its protection and promote safe, sustainable use for the benefit of the community.
The official opening of the Kyaume Dispensary Maternity Wing marks another milestone in expanding access to quality maternal and child healthcare services.
The new maternity wing will serve a catchment population of over 5,200 residents, benefiting an estimated 600 women from Sengani, Katine, Makuie, Mangauni and Manza villages.
With an average of 20 deliveries every month, the facility will enhance access to skilled maternity care, ensuring expectant mothers receive safe and timely services closer to home.
This investment reflects our commitment to strengthening Primary Health Care as we advance Universal Health Coverage for Mwananchi.
No expectant mother should be forced to travel long distances to access maternity care.
The commissioning of the Kyaume Dispensary Maternity Wing represents a major step in bringing maternal health services nearer to home
The facility will serve over 5,200 residents, with about 600 women from,Kyaume ,Sengani, Katine, Mangauni and Manza set to benefit directly and improve access to skilled deliveries, reduce delays in seeking care, and enhance maternal and newborn outcomes through timely services within the community.
I reaffirm my unwavering commitment to the Constitution, the rule of law and the people of Machakos.
Oversight is a vital pillar of democracy, but it must always be exercised fairly, objectively and within the Constitution not as a tool for political intimidation or to frustrate service delivery.
My administration remains focused on transparency, accountability, and delivering the development agenda entrusted to us by the people. We will continue to protect the integrity of our institutions, uphold due process and work with all arms of government in the spirit of mutual respect and constitutionalism.
The people of Machakos deserve leadership that prioritizes development over political confrontation. We will continue to strengthen our institutions, defend constitutional order, and keep our focus where it belongs—on improving the lives of our people.

I will continue to let my work speak for itself, because service to the people will always come first.
I have no time for distractions or naysayers. My focus remains firmly on delivering meaningful development and improving the lives of the people of Machakos.
