Today, Linda Mwananchi leaders have been attacked in Kisumu and Nyahururu.

Yesterday, a DCP campaign truck was attacked in Ol Kalou.

Only God knows what is being planned for Thursday during the by-elections in Ol Kalou.

If violence is allowed to spread unchallenged across the country, no opposition party or coalition will be spared. The ultimate objective is to make it increasingly difficult for the opposition to campaign freely and for citizens to participate without fear. The opposition leaders will be made to retreat to boardrooms, due to threats of extreme violence, as government aligned politicians campaign freely across the country. That’s the plan.

At this point, one might be tempted to think that one of the objectives of the mission to Haiti was about studying the playbook of organized gangs, and have that implemented here to to stifle the opposition, intimidate citizens and shrink the democratic space.

Every Kenyan regardless of political affiliation should be concerned about what is currently unfolding in our country. Kenya does not belong to us alone. It is an inheritance we hold in trust for our children. What kind of country do we want to leave them? One where they can live, work and pursue their dreams in peace, or one where violence, intimidation and gangs dominate our streets and our politics?
