The Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon is successful because of the contributions of different stakeholders, including local leaders.

Much effort has also been made by @wekesa_amos, whose vision, dedication, and commitment to promoting tourism and sports in Uganda have played a major role in the growth of this event.

His continued support in positioning Kasese as a key destination has not only elevated the marathon but also strengthened community participation, tourism visibility, and local economic opportunities.

Preparations for the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon have gained momentum ahead of the event's activation scheduled for June 20, 2026.

Kasese Influencers and
@GoodForestsUg
have joined forces to spearhead the activation campaign aimed at increasing awareness and participation in the marathon across Uganda.

The initiative seeks to mobilize community members in Kasese, promote the marathon, and highlight its role in advancing sports, tourism, and environmental conservation in the Rwenzori region.

The activation is expected to bring together stakeholders, influencers, and community members as part of broader efforts to ensure the success of the 2026 Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon

Today, June 5th; #WorldEnvironmentDay, we join the global community in celebrating the power of nature and renewing our commitment to protect it 👌

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of receiving a donation of tree management equipment from @stihlea to support farmers participating in @GoodForestsUg tree planting and landscape restoration programme.

@STIHL has been a valued partner in our reforestation journey since 2018. Over the years, we have worked together to restore degraded landscapes, strengthen farmer livelihoods and promote sustainable forestry practices across Uganda.

During a visit to our restoration sites in 2023, farmers shared a #common_challenge: while they had embraced tree planting, many lacked access to the right tools for weeding, pruning, thinning, irrigation and general tree management. STIHL listened and they have delivered.

The equipment received includes:
👉Brush cutters for weeding and reducing competition around young trees
👉 Pruners for proper tree shaping and growth management
👉 Sprayers for irrigation and application of pesticides
👉 Chainsaws for thinning operations and stand improvement

To ensure maximum impact, these tools will be stationed within our operating areas and managed through a shared-use system. Farmers will be able to borrow the equipment, use it on their woodlots and return it for the next farmer. This approach will allow many households to benefit while reducing the cost of tree management.

A huge thank you to @STIHL for not only supporting tree planting but also investing in the long-term success of farmers who are growing the forests of tomorrow. 🌱
