KITWE Teaching Hospital has recorded an increase in the number of cases of stroke, with 43 percent of the 500 patients attended to from January to August this year being young people.
Hospital urologist Bwalya Mulenga said in an interview that the health facility is attending to a rising number of stroke cases among people aged between 25 and 50 coming from different provinces.
The surge in stroke cases among young people is attributed to HIV, syphilis, hypertension, renal problems, the use of contraceptives, and untreated sore throats.
