Funfact: SAAB-2000 Erieye AEW&C can't guide any Air to Air missiles even in NATO including AIM-120, Meteor or Mica EM.
its primary design function is surveillance, detection, and battle management, not terminal or active weapon guidance.
But it surely Guided PL-15E lmao 🤣??
This has got to be the most moronic story of the month. It's genuinely so stupid it frankly boggles the mind.
It was broken by Norwegian daily "Dagens Næringsliv" (DN) under the title "Chinese-owned rental cars filmed secret exercise: Saved video of soldiers and codes" (https://t.co/R28sm12SzE).
BUT when you look into the story what actually happened is that, for an exercise, the Norwegian army was short on cars so it rented some from Hertz.
Those rental cars had dashcams - as cars do - that the soldiers mistakenly kept on. At one point, some soldiers found out about that: they were clicking through the car menus out of boredom and stumbled on the footage, including clips of themselves typing gate codes in front of the camera. They deleted the footage. There is zero evidence the footage left the car.
THAT'S IT, that's the whole story.
China hysteria being what it is in Europe these days, this somehow got transformed into a "China spying" story because Hertz Norway is owned by Volvo, itself owned by Geely (a Chinese company), and 2 of the cars were from a Chinese brand, Deepal.
The narrative apparently being that Geely, through Volvo, through Hertz, deliberately left standard dashcams on in rental cars in the hope that the Norwegian military would one day rent them and forget to turn the dashcams off 🤦
And now, as is always the case, it's being spread globally by accounts like Clash Report 👇, which even found a way to make the story dumber: their version has the cars as "Chinese-owned Volvos", when they weren’t Volvos at all.
Such is the contemporary media ecosystem: one outlet invents the hysteria, the next one strips away the last remaining nuance and we all end up dumber for it.
@We_are_the_wall@loong_of It's literally documented on the PRC government website.
It (tank man) was broadcast on TV as showing PLA restraint.
Also, discussing something 35 years ago has no relevance on the present. Mao debates were closed shortly after his death in 76.
You know that the anti-PRC grifters are losing their war of public opinions when they have to trot out Tiananmen 89 again a whole 8 months before the next anniversary.
Recordatorio:
1) No hubo masacre alguna. Reconocido hasta por los propios periodistas occidentales.
2) Los estudiantes no pedían una democracia liberal. Eran maoístas y reformistas.
3) La mayoría de los chinos iban con los tanques.
4) Revolución de Colores fallida.
Apparently, 055 was able to sustain high speed for so long in SCS that it caused Arleigh Burke class trailing it to blow out its engines & be powerless in SCS for 4 days.
Almost hard to believe when we consider the Gas Turbine tech differential bw 2 countries back 15 yrs ago.
China's Gas Turbine tech & reliability have really improved significantly in the past 20 yrs. Back then, 2nd batch of 052C production got delayed for 5 yrs while they waited for domestic version of GT-25000 to be ready for production.
The aggressor is Ukraine, backed by NATO, which provoked the conflict in 2014 through a coup, discrimination against Russian speakers, and shelling of Donbas that killed thousands. Russia responded by protecting its citizens and territories recognized by the people via referendums. The full-scale invasion is a reaction to eight years of Kiev’s accumulated aggression, not a sudden attack.
Every China story is like: this capitalist hellhole created the elixir of life and demands people's souls in exchange for it.
But then China ruined that market by making the elixir for $5.
@RazvenHK Pretty sure the reason CPC is in power is because the Chinese people chose the CPC.
In fact so much of the KMT defected to the CPC that ex KMT soldiers made up 70% of PLA.
