It's all about the stuff I love religiously: Music, movies, retrogaming, toys – and, yet again, music. For anything less important please follow me @UweSpiller.
Quincy Jones was a trailblazer.
As a composer, arranger, record and movie producer, he created art that brought joy to millions of people. As an activist, Quincy championed civil and human rights. As a role model, he offered inspiration and mentorship, in particular for young people of color in the music industry.
I was honored to call Quincy a friend, and I will always remember his generosity of spirit, his selfless support, and his deep kindness.
Doug and I are praying for the Jones family and all those who loved him.
Antoine Moses, a tree planter from Canada set a new world record by planting 23,060 trees in 24 hours. He’s a real environmentalist, rather than those who spill milk in supermarkets, spray paintings or plaster mass-scale solar panels on prime farmland.
@MikeJMika I'm a bit worried that in a nearer future posts like this aren't working with an audience on social media -- both due to lower age and common knowledge -- without adding a caption.
@retroist That hand model (and the art director probably as well) missed their lesson on properly holding CDs when putting it on the drawer. #HairRaising
@analogue Now I'm really glad I didn't call off the 5 p.m. afternoon tea with my mum ... -- only to spent two entirely unnerving and pointless minutes in front of a screen.
@GrapeadeFade Watching that movie for the first time (at home), it was around the 45 minutes mark when I began thinking:
Pleeeaaase let that DVD never end.
@retroist Oh boy, you can’t go wrong with an ad visual that involves a nifty Minox (model B) camera.
(On the other hand: “Hey, let’s build a recorder for micro cassettes and make it clunky as hell!”)
@ubersaurus In your 1981 video game recap you briefly mention the brand Imagic, saying [eyemagic].
Please don’t.
The name was made up merging “imagine”+“magic”, thus the pronunciation [eeemagic].
(Sadly, in generations raised on Apple’s marketing this clever construct doesn’t catch on.)
