Countries with strict gun control (I admit to being baffled by your claim that American laws are strict) have less gun crime; even just having to prove genuine need for a firearm reduces crime.

@MHLDK88 Can I ask your source on that? While there has been an increase seen, it's in part due to better data recording by Gardaí. Are you thinking of London perhaps?
The same could be applied to Irish figures. Are 14,000 deaths acceptable in order to keep guns?

@MHLDK88 But not with guns. Even our general police force don’t carry them. Not saying Ireland has the right of it, but in 2015 we had 0.58 gun related deaths to every 100,00 people compared to 11.28 in the US (source: https://t.co/0551ZQXXyx) Rigorous gun control works.
