On this Patriots’ Day 50 years ago today, my father, Alvaro Mejia Florez of Colombia, won the 75th edition of the Boston Marathon. His winning time was 2:18:45 on one of the hottest days ever recorded for the grandest road race of them all. @BAA @bostonmarathon @BostonGlobe
