The number of Deca Unicorns in Cali is growing by the day as investors chase amazing startups.

A unique feature of these 10b startups is that even if they raise a billion, little, if any of that money goes to the founders, who are now worth billions of dollars over night. They are the definition of cash poor, stock rich

How are you going to tax them ? Make them borrow money against their shares, if they can? They just raised money to grow their company and a bank will come along and loan them money ? A company that has been in business maybe less than a year ? lol

Will you take their stock if they can’t ?

Do you really think each of multiple founders, who started an amazing company in Cali and is now a billionaire, can each just pull out $250m per billion of net worth from their raise ? You know they can’t.

If this passes , and it doesn’t directly impact me at all, I won’t be a cali resident, but you can bet if I’m investing in a multi billion dollar startup, I’m asking them to move from California first.

IMO, if this passes, only idiot startup founders stay in Cali.

I’ve done it before and will do it again. Dallas. Pittsburgh. Indiana. I will make NOT being in California a pre requisite for an investment

Elon Musk and Don Lemon go head to head on privilege and neither backs down.

Lemon’s argument; Musk has an “ease” in society that many people of color simply don’t have. He points to the legacy of slavery and systemic racism as undeniable realities, contrasting Musk’s voluntary immigration with the experiences of marginalized communities.

Musk pushes back suggesting that making race and historical grievances the “central thing” in every conversation is exactly what prevents those problems from ever being resolved.

The deeper conflict is over individualism. Musk argues society should move toward treating people strictly as individuals. Lemon questions whether that means ignoring the real, lived experiences of people of color and trans individuals entirely and says being told to just “move forward” is insulting when the past is still shaping the present.

His wealth is tied up in those companies, thus he only pays big tax bills when he sells stock, which is rare.

When the Affordable Care Act took effect in 2010, the average family premium was about $13,000. We were told costs would go down.

Today, it’s $23,968, far above the inflation-adjusted $19,381. For my self-employed family, health insurance is our single largest expense.

Here’s why the ACA drives costs up:

In 2017, I had jaw surgery. The cash price was $13,000. My insurer was billed $38,000, and paid it. Every appointment requires hours of administrative wrangling between doctors and insurers. That labor cost is baked in. And when government and employers subsidize most premiums, market pressure to lower costs is weak.

The average family now pays the equivalent of one or two major surgeries per year in premiums, often without seeing real value, since deductibles eat up the benefit for those who rarely use care.

Since your presidency, life expectancy has dropped. Chronic disease rates have climbed. Obesity is peaking only because $1,000/month Ozempic prescriptions mask it. This is not a healthier America.

The ACA may be “affordable” for those with large subsidies, but it is unaffordable for many small businesses and self-employed families. It is very affordable, however, for insurance companies; Blue Cross made over $400M in profit last year.

You celebrate the ACA as a success. For many of us, it is the reason health care is our biggest financial burden.

If your question is whether we can let others weaken Obamacare, my answer is: Yes. We can.
