@henrywinter It may be a debatable call whether the hand was in a natural position but it clearly and obviously hit his hand so the ref made an error. The ref will still be sent to the screen and then may give a penalty.

This will not eradicate dubious calls that could go either way.

@henrywinter Clear & obvious is based on the referee's interpretation of the incident rather than whether or not it is an offence.

e.g. if the referee says it didn't touch a hand but replays show it did then that is a clear and obvious error but the handling may or may constitute an offence.

Low cost, no risk and a great PR win - United should be all over this.

Gives needed depth in frontline and takes pressure of Sesko. Also helps promising, young forwards to develop.

@_PaulHayward He's kind of right but he's fed in to this too. Only took one technical midfielder, and he never played a minute.

None of the other top nations start games with Rice and Anderson - way too similar and not technical enough, a lot of their major strengths are off the ball.

Maybe it is the way you have phrased it @CraigHope_DM, whic really leaves no other possible interpretation.

'Sloped off' is a really negative way of putting it and clearly indicates some kind of attitude problem.

How can Man Utd fans interpret this as a dig at Kobbie Mainoo? It just shows the tribalism that exists around England. We're simply reporting what happened. My own take is that I thought he should have played. He can handle the ball in tight areas, which is what England needed.

By all accounts there were cheers all over the country when Burn came on because we love those types of player, & rightly so, but we needed control, not fight.

Most impactful signing ever and maybe my favourite ever player but not the best ever, he was only at United for 4 1/2 years and half of one of them was spent serving a suspension and longevity has to come in to it.

@AnnemarieDray I mean, we don't know what the messaging was between the goal and bringing all the defenders on, the signals from the bench were unhappy/frantic and clearly telling them what they were doing was wrong.

Granted, the subs that were made then compounded the problem.

@uguraktan Exactly. Tuchel's negative subs were a direct response to the player's lack of control/bravery and passiveness.

Not saying it was the right reaction but he must have felt there was no chance of regaining control so added defenders.

It's ingrained in us to be like this.

Tuchel certainly, eventually at least, fed in to this but, the players stopped tryimg to play football the second they scored - there is zero chance that was a message from the bench that early in the game.

Only threw defenders on when we hadn't strung 3 passes together for 20 mimutes.

Tuchel could of maybe done more but I'm just starting to think it's inherent in English footballers to try and fight rather than play.

England have had a lot of excellent managers tbough and none of them have been able to do it.

I think he felt he couldn't trust his players to control possession so threw extra defenders on.

Not agreeing with it but just saying players also lacked bravery.
