Simply labeling a series as fictional does not justify the unauthorized exploitation of our national history and traditional attire.

Although the fictional kingdom in Scarlet Heart Thailand is said to be inspired by Thai, Lanna, Chinese, and Myanmar cultures, the costumes shown in the trailer bear a striking resemblance to the royal court attire of Myanmar’s Konbaung Dynasty (Yadanabon Era). From the layered way the htamein is worn to the royal jewelry, the designs closely resemble authentic Myanmar royal court costumes.
So why were these costumes chosen instead of their own traditional attire? Why do the costumes in the trailer so closely resemble the royal garments of the Konbaung Dynasty of mainland Myanmar? These similarities raise serious questions about the representation and use of Myanmar’s cultural heritage, and the responsible parties should provide a clear explanation.@GMMTV@ScarletHeartTH
