Paleontologist Dr. Dean Lomax lays next to a 32-foot-long ichthyosaur fossil that was accidentally discovered by a landscaper in England in February 2021.
In February 2021, a routine landscaping project at the Rutland Water Nature Reserve in central England led to one of the most remarkable fossil discoveries in British history: a nearly complete ichthyosaur measuring about 10 meters (32 feet) long. Dating to roughly 180 million years ago during the Early Jurassic Period, it is the largest and most complete ichthyosaur skeleton ever found in the United Kingdom.
Ichthyosaurs were marine reptiles, not dinosaurs, that evolved a body shape remarkably similar to modern dolphins. They were apex predators of ancient seas, feeding on fish, squid, and other marine animals. This specimen belonged to the genus Temnodontosaurus, whose name means “cutting-tooth lizard,” a reference to its powerful teeth and hunting ability.
The fossil was excavated over several months by a team led by paleontologists including Dr. Dean Lomax. More than 20 tons of rock were carefully removed to preserve the skeleton, which includes much of the skull, spine, ribs, and flippers.
Some giant ichthyosaurs grew even larger than this specimen. The biggest known species may have exceeded 20m (65ft) in length, making them among the largest marine reptiles ever to inhabit Earth’s oceans.
@nurinoco@Left_Dreamr@Shirubani@catmaninc I hope so too, it was not the nicest experience overall lol. I wouldn't wish this on anyone...
I will attempt online sales once I get piapro approval again if you still want to get her :)
@Nautical_Nova_@Left_Dreamr@Shirubani@catmaninc That won't be possible unless you have a Japanese phone number 😞....I got group A tickets last Feb and I was able to get everything I wanted (the stuff I like is not insanely popular though)
I also hope that copyright-holder requirements are respected and enforced equally for all participants.
My friends and I are already planning for next year~

And I still have not received an explanation for why this requirement seemed to apply only to me 🤷♀️
I hope communication from staff vastly improves next year. Many emails were never replied to or came too late.

@Nautical_Nova_ It's my understanding that momocon's AA is handled differently so I cannot comment on that, but for WF US I have asked for clarification on that point and I am waiting to hear back from them.
I will no longer participate in @WonderFestUS@MomoCon.
I was informed only late last night that my Miku kit could no longer be sold or displayed at all. This, and many other problems with the organizing committee have made me decide to withdraw all my works from #WonderFestUS
@buchi_snoochi@WonderFestUS@MomoCon And it turns out my kit was not allowed to be sold, displayed, promoted or even presented at the event when other unlicensed copyright works were there at the event.
@buchi_snoochi@WonderFestUS@MomoCon Organizers explicitly told me she would be allowed to be sold based on the copyright approval I secured on my own. Crypton suddenly cancelled it on Monday. Then, the organizers told me they now 'hoped' this meant crypton would reply soon.
@puurlalaPlazma@WonderFestUS I will try to once I get them back and reapply for copyright. If I get approval I will post about it. Thank you for being interested in getting my Miku~
