This off-grid home in Sweden is built inside a giant greenhouse.
Completed in 2022, Atri Naturhus places a 124 m² (1,335 sq ft) timber house beneath a glass shell that protects it from wind and cold, extends the growing season and creates a sheltered garden around the living spaces.
Solar panels, battery storage, well water, a wood stove and an on-site wastewater system allow the house to operate largely independently from public utilities.
Rep. Thomas Massie is calling on Americans to contact Congress this week and demand glyphosate immunity be stripped from the Farm Bill.
“People this week should be calling their congressmen and their senators and saying, ‘Take the glyphosate immunity out of the farm bill.’”
“If nothing else, ask to allow Chellie Pingree and Thomas Massie to have a vote on their amendment.”
“So that everybody can go on record as to whether they support immunity for a German company or not.”
Rome built its latifundia through conquest, public land, and enslaved labor. These estates expanded as small farmers lost their plots after long wars.

A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a small, tough computer used to control machines and processes in factories.
Before PLCs, factories used many relays and wires, which were hard to change. In 1968, Dick Morley made the first PLC, called Modicon 084, for General Motors to make control systems easier to update.
PLCs work by reading signals from sensors, making decisions based on a program, and sending commands to devices like motors or valves.
They are built to handle heat, vibration, and electrical noise, making them perfect for industrial automation.
A twist of the tail in turning maneuvers of bird-inspired drones
Raptors have been observed using tail twisting during banked turns to counteract adverse yaw without altering wing position. To investigate this mechanism, Phan and Floreano developed LisRaptor, a bioinspired drone with morphing wings and a tail capable of axial rotation. The drone incorporates a skeletal frame with feather-like foam structures and adjustable wingspans. Wind tunnel experiments demonstrated that tail twisting can generate effective aerodynamic forces for initiating both low-speed coordinated turns and high-speed maneuvers.

Before RAM, computers stored memory using sound. They’d shoot data as pulses through a tube of mercury.
When it reached the end, it’d loop back again. Just to remember stuff.
Basically a computer mumbling to itself to not forget.
