Russia undoubtedly knew about the first two and -probably- knew about the adoc protection details as well.

@winterwoerevear @EndGameWW3 They were sent there to protect Embassy staff when UK evac'd to poland at the start of the war, then they went with the staff reestablishing the UK mission about four months ago, also the protection of british nationals in ukr. This is all 100% routine, russia probably was told.

On balance, the potential death of billions far outweighs the potential death of hundreds of thousands. That's never going to change, no matter how horrible the UKR invasion gets.
