Hurricane Ian Update #2
Horry County Emergency Management staff continues to monitor Hurricane Ian and its potential impacts to our area.
Heavy rain, tropical storm force wind gusts, coastal flooding, and the isolated risk of tornadoes are impacts we could experience.
As were in the height of Hurricane Season, we want to remind you that every home should always have an emergency supply kit with key items in one, easily accessible location. You don’t want to be scrambling in the midst of any emergency. #stormready#emergencypreparedness
Since we’re officially in peak Hurricane season, it was a fitting time for today’s Warriors in Disaster Hurricane Preparedness Forum hosted by @MBAChamber with guest speakers @EdPiotrowski, Randy Webster @HorryEMD & Rick Maxey @HCSInfo.
9am - tornado warning for southern Horry County is over. Rotation east of Socastee is weaker and broader. Stay weather aware. The risk of damaging winds or a tornado is very low but there is extremely heavy rain moving through the area. #scwx#ncwx
Stop by for a visit to The Market @ Charlie’s Place 1420 Carver St. There’s music, yummy food, lots of great finds & of course a little hurricane prep info for you and your neighbors. Rain or shine until 2pm.
Tropical Storm Colin popped in for a quick visit to our coast this a.m. Possibly the strangest Tropical Storm ever, but we’re certain he had a message: Hurricane Season ‘22 is here folks! Consider this your friendly reminder to stay prepared! #hurricaneprep#tropicalstormcolin
FYI - Tropical Storm warning has been canceled for the Grand Strand. Warning continues for the North Carolina coast. Shortest tropical storm warning ever for me...just 6 hours. Not complaining! #scwx#ncwx
Tropical Storm #Colin, located NE of Charleston, will move northeastward along the coast through this evening. Gusty winds & isolated heavy rainfall expected across coastal areas of NE SC and SE NC. Strong rip currents possible. Full briefing available at https://t.co/5tFD9ilvtG
Our Team spent time with 4-H youth from Horry & Georgetown Counties today to discuss extreme weather, safety planning & emergency supply kits. 30 kids built & took kits home with them today. Thanks for having us 4-H! #emergencyprep#makingthebestbetter
Severe Weather Threat (including the adjacent Atlantic waters) and Heat Advisory Conditions (except for the immediate coast) expected this afternoon into this evening across Southeast NC and Northeast SC. #ilmwx#ncwx#scwx
