To add to this hot take: a #ttrpg isn’t just “the story the DM/GM wants to tell”, it’s a story that the entire table is telling together and everyone’s boundaries should be respected in that process

Hot take: if, as a DM/GM, you’re incapable of altering “the story you want to tell” so it doesn’t include things that are traumatic for your players (i.e. sexual assault, etc) then you’re not nearly as good a story teller as you think are.

I’ll start! Currently on the stream I am playing Filipendula Tenebris- a non-binary Eladrin. I think the concept of a gender binary doesn’t exist in their culture, where the very concept of self is so elusive and mutable

I only use a character voice so it’s easy to tell when it’s me talking vs my character. But obviously on our stream plenty of us don’t have a “character voice” very different from our own, but they do have a “character presence”! #dnd5e

I really think this depends on the specific table. For instance on our stream, our DM has asked us if something is being done not RAW to let her know. It’s still her decision if she wants to use the RAW or not, but there’s too many rules to know them all by heart #dnd
