About to start my pirate campaign in the crownless sea! So excited. It'll feature gold = exp but because thid is pirates they can't buy the leveld they must hord it. But they can only carry so much thus they must find a way to secure their gold. It's going to be a lot of fun!
This morning I made authentic biscuits. Probably a who cares statement but for me it was a profound moment. I'm American, but my heritage is extremely mixed. Various europeans, mexican, various native american tribes, middle eastern, jewish, indian, and congo african. I'm both too much and too little to be included in different cultures. My home culture is very mixed too. We practice generational living but have a strong white American leaning.
I had surgery and my Dad was taking care of the household while I recovered. I made biscuits from scratch as a thank you. They're not pretty but they taste great and best of all they are authentic. Regardless if I am too much this or too little that to fit in a racial or ethnic box, I fit just fine as an American. And this American made some ugly but authentic biscuits this morning.
@PeelkingsRadio False. Would rather shovel snow. I have 4 wheeler with a plow on it. It's pretty fun. And consider it's usually -40F in the winter 9F is extrodinarily warm and a nice day.
@pcdebol@JaseInAmerica1 I actually can things at home. Pressure, water bath etc. I could not tell you why the concept of dairy messes with me on it. Just feels wrong. I would likely stop drinking milk if that's all I had. If the apocolypse comes I'm getting a cow. Lol
@pcdebol@JaseInAmerica1 Oooooh. I have had that. I side eye it here too. Lol. Thank you for explaining it to me. I know this is just a weird hang up I have. I've tasted it and you're right taste pretty normal. I struggle to get over the idea it was refreidgerated.
I planning a pirate game that will do both. But in my main one, I do neither.
I removed inns from my world and put the ancient rule of hospitality. They can sit at the gate and someone will over them room and board. It may be a poor man or someone very wealthy. A town that doesn't do this, something is deeply wrong. In exchange the party must do something to pay for it. They cannot pay with money. This is where my main quests come in. Really stream lines the whole thing.
5,280 ft in a mile is what my head says. It's not all that useful to know so weither right or wrong doesn't matter. But irl americans will use anything and everything except the metric system. We call em freedom units. How man football fields is that? Time for distance. Handfuls. Olympic size swimming pools. Roughly the size of a watermelon. We're not out here using measuring every foot to the mile. We've already converted it to time.
It'a not too bad. I move states a lot. I even lived in two states at the same time. Update documents, insurance, file with the county, voter registration, vechical registration etc. Each state are pretty autonmous to a certain extent and they need to be. The country is so vast that the laws that work in one area do not work in another. It's all pretty painless.
Totally agree. I went to a cavern completely changed how I would play a large cave opening that goes down into a cavern. I'm also someone that goes on irl adventures a lot. My group is so tired of hearing about it. Our characters were caught in quicksand and I said, wait I have done something like this before. My dm gave me a flat look and said of course you have. But sadly I can't get my group to even hang out around a camp fire with me. They just want to pretend instead.
Brat 2 was telling me that the revolutionary war people turned into dinosaurs and afterwards became human again.
I asked what are they teaching you in school?
He said Rome.
I asked "Do you even know where Rome is?"
He shrugged and said "it was in Italy."
"What do you mean was? Is Rome roming?"
He laughed and said it's split in half.
Brat 2....i'm gonna homeschool you if you keep up this nonsense.
As a player and DM it's my job to manage my issues. As a DM I tell the players there will be no x, y or z. However as a player I approach the DM privately and ask if these things will be in thr campaign. If it is I won't ask them to change things I will bow out. Some dms will negotiate with because they like having me at the table. But that's their choice. I'm okay not being there because my hang ups are mine to manage not them.
Thursday night campaign, the players took what should have been 3 turns into 3 hours. There was pvp brawl, one went to jail, one is actively snooping, the new player was discovered but immediatly harrassed and one completed the objective to clean the poison. A dragon now looms.
@learning_yohei I am from Alaska. We get a lot of Japanese tourists there, so I was taught Japanese as a second language. Unfortunately, I am not good with the language.
They are weak because they don't take in account magic items and better gear. Plus it's intended for 4 players. When you have more than 4 then you need ways to handle action economy. Monster may be able to attack 3 times and a layer action. That's only 4. Going against however many players and their attack actions.
