A 19-year-old woman has admitted to manslaughter and three other felony charges in connection with a deadly shooting outside an Eastpointe Foot Locker.
Lakylia Taylor pleaded guilty Aug. 24 in Macomb County Circuit Court under an agreement with prosecutors. She entered guilty pleas to manslaughter, felony firearm, tampering with evidence and carrying a concealed weapon.
As part of the deal, prosecutors will drop Taylor’s charges of second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and another felony-firearm count when she is sentenced.
The case stems from a May 3, 2025, shooting near the Foot Locker at Eight Mile and Kelly roads. The violence erupted after a confrontation between two groups, leaving two people dead and two others injured.
Taylor’s defense attorney previously said she acted in self-defense. According to the defense, Taylor fired her weapon after seeing her brother being attacked during the confrontation.
