In 1830, Liouville proved the area under the most important curve in mathematics has no formula. Not because nobody was clever enough - because the formula was never there to be found. Then somebody squared the problem, lifted it into a second dimension, and a circle walked into the exponent entirely on its own. The area is the square root of π - the same √π that normalizes every probability distribution inside every LLM and every diffusion model on every GPU cluster today.
The curve is e to the minus x squared - the bell curve De Moivre discovered in 1733 solving a coin-flip problem. One dimension and every integration method slides off it. Square the integral, rename one variable to y, and x² + y² appears in the exponent - Pythagoras hiding inside a function with no circles anywhere. Switch to polar coordinates and geometry hands you a free factor of r. The infinite hill collapses to π. That factor now sits inside every softmax normalization, every Gaussian noise layer in stable diffusion training, every loss function a transformer optimizes during backpropagation.

global crime rates are gonna collapse once superhumanoids like this hit the streets
imagine facing this thing as a robber lol
Unitree’s new "Guardian" robot can fight off a guy with a knife and patrol areas for 8 hours straight
which is terrible news for criminals, because the biggest thing that stops them from committing crimes is the chance of getting caught
right now in the US only about 13% of burglaries ever get solved
so most burglars are making a pretty safe bet
but if you put a robot on every block that:
> never sleeps
> records everything
> and can physically stop/beat the shit out of you
...then almost no criminals would make that bet anymore
on top of that, if you add the abundance that AI and robotics are likely to create
then far fewer people will even get desperate enough to commit crimes in the first place, because they'll already have enough
there's a good chance that our kids will think about robbery the way we think about guillotine executions
The Otranto Massacre took place on August 14, 1480, when Ottoman forces under Gedik Ahmed Pasha beheaded roughly 800 Italian men on the Hill of Minerva (now the Hill of the Martyrs) after the fall of the city of Otranto...
Approximately 800-813 surviving male inhabitants aged 15 and older were gathered and offered clemency if they converted to Islam. Led by an elderly tailor named Antonio Primaldo (Pezzulla), they refused to renounce their faith and were executed one by one. Estimates indicate thousands were killed during the initial sack (with figures around 12,000 dead), and roughly 5,000 women and children were taken away to be sold into slavery.
The fierce resistance at Otranto delayed further Ottoman movements up the Italian peninsula, buying time for the Kingdom of Naples and its allies to organize defenses and protect Rome.
. . .
The summer sun lay heavy over the whitewashed walls of Otranto in August of 1480, baking the dust into the blood. The streets were choked with bodies—men in torn doublets, women clutching lifeless infants, children whose cries had already gone silent. Across the harbor, the banners of the Ottoman Empire rippled in the sea breeze, their crimson field and crescent moon stark against the blue of the Adriatic.
The city’s gates, battered and splintered, hung useless on their hinges. Behind them, in the cathedral square, eight hundred men stood bound in rows, their faces set, eyes fixed on the horizon. A Turkish officer read the final demand:
Embrace Islam or face the sword.
When no one stepped forward, the blades began their work.
. . .
Otranto had been the sentinel of Italy’s heel for centuries, a fortified port guarding the narrow channel between the Adriatic and the Ionian Seas. On July 28, 1480, a fleet of roughly ninety Ottoman galleys appeared offshore, carrying an invasion force of eighteen thousand under the command of Gedik Ahmed Pasha. The target was not merely a provincial town but the gateway to the Kingdom of Naples—and, potentially, all of Italy.
Mehmet II, “the Conqueror” of Constantinople, had turned his gaze westward. And if Otranto fell, nothing stood between the Sultan’s armies and the papal states.
The siege began with cannon fire that shook the very limestone foundations of the walls. For fifteen days the defenders, numbering perhaps six thousand including civilians, resisted with crossbow bolts, arquebus fire, and boiling oil poured from the battlements. The city’s governor, Count Francesco Largo, fell early in the fighting, leaving Archbishop Stefano Pendinelli to rally both soldiers and townsfolk. Chroniclers tell of the archbishop walking the ramparts in full vestments, carrying the relics of St. Stephen and offering absolution to the dying. But the walls could not withstand the relentless pounding. On August 11, a breach yawned open, and the Ottoman troops surged in.
What followed was indiscriminate slaughter. An estimated twelve thousand inhabitants were killed outright; five thousand more—mostly women and children—were chained for the slave markets of the Islamic world. The surviving men of fighting age, some eight hundred in number, were herded together.
According to Italian and later Vatican accounts, they were offered their lives in exchange for conversion to Islam. Their spokesman, a humble tailor named Antonio Primaldo, answered for them all: they would remain faithful to Christ, whatever the cost.
One by one, they were beheaded outside the city walls, their bodies left as a warning and their heads sent to the Sultan.
. . .
The sack of Otranto shocked all of Christendom. Pope Sixtus IV called for a crusade, while Ferdinand I of Naples and the kings of Spain scrambled to reinforce their coasts. Yet, providentially, the wider Ottoman campaign stalled; Mehmet II died unexpectedly the following year, and in 1481 a Neapolitan force retook the ruined city.

They massacred the White population including the White farmers & established the first independent Black republic in the Western Hemisphere.
Now they eat dirt cookies.
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre was destroyed in 1009 AD, on the orders of the Fatimid Caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah. Attackers used picks and hammers to smash the Aedicule (the tomb of Christ) and parts of the structure, followed by a fire. However, the lower levels of the sepulchre survived beneath the rubble. The order was part of a broader wave of anti-Christian and anti-Jewish policies and forced conversions across Fatimid territories...
On October 18, 1009 AD, the noon sun burned like a white flame over the Holy City as the first hammer struck stone. Within the vaulted gloom of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the holiest shrine in Christendom, the sound reverberated like thunder. Pillars cracked, marble splintered, and the air filled with choking dust. Men with axes and torches—agents of the Fatimid caliph Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah—tore at the columns, toppled the altar, and pried loose the gilded panels that adorned the tomb of Christ.
Smoke rose from the nave as fires consumed what hammers could not. By nightfall, the great basilica lay in ruin. Its roof had caved in, its walls reduced to rubble, its sacred foundation hacked down to the bare bedrock.
The Tomb of the Resurrection was gone.
. . .
The church they destroyed had stood for nearly seven centuries. Built under the orders of Emperor Constantine the Great in the early fourth century, it had been the beating heart of Christian pilgrimage. This was where Saint Helena, Constantine’s mother, was said to have discovered the True Cross. Here, over the rocky hill of Golgotha and the cave believed to have once held the body of Jesus, Constantine’s architects had raised a complex of soaring domes, colonnades, and courtyards—a house of stone for the story of salvation.
Through centuries of invasion, earthquakes, and shifting empires, it had endured: rebuilt after the Persians burned it in 614, repaired under Arab rule after 638, and maintained as a symbol of coexistence in the city many faiths called holy.
But Al-Hakim, the erratic and ruthless Fatimid caliph who ruled Egypt and much of the Levant, would not endure it. By the turn of the eleventh century, his eccentricity had turned to persecution. Known as “the Mad Caliph” even by some of his own courtiers, Al-Hakim proclaimed himself divine, outlawed certain foods, ordered dogs killed for their impurity, and persecuted Jews and Christians alike. He banned Christian processions, forbade the rebuilding of churches, and accused monks and priests of fraud for claiming miracles at the Holy Sepulchre.
Then, in October 1009, Al-Hakim issued the decree that shocked the world: the complete destruction of the Christian shrine in Jerusalem. His soldiers, led by a governor from Ramla, carried it out with brutal precision—burning, hacking, and prying apart even the tomb itself until nothing sacred remained.
News of the desecration spread like wildfire through the Christian world. In Constantinople, Emperor Basil II denounced the outrage; in Rome, Pope Sergius IV is said to have issued a fiery letter condemning the act and calling for divine vengeance. To the faithful, the annihilation of the Holy Sepulchre was not merely an insult, it was an existential assault on the very heart of Christendom. Pilgrims who had once flocked to Jerusalem now returned with tales of ruins and ashes.
