We recently had the honor of being interviewed by @ReproJobs about our experience bargaining for our second contract!
We are thrilled to share it with you!
XOXO, NAH UNION
Part: ONE of TWO
We are *OFFICIAL* after signing our contract yesterday
"We want to thank us for believing in us. We want to thank us for doing all this hard work..."
And of course we also want to thank @Evan_Yeats, our guild rep @WBNG32035! We wouldn't have this incredible contract with you!
We are THRILLED our unit members voted to ratify our contract today! We expect NAF MGMT and our reps to officially sign Monday.
We are incredibly proud of this contract as it will vastly improve the lives of our staff. This contract is only because our staff stood in union!
Big news! NAF MGMT officially "Tentatively Agreed" to a completed contract on 11/8.
Next Up:
1) Ratifying vote of our members
2) Official signing & implementation.
We fought too hard and too long. We ask that MGMT honor their staff by expediting the remaining process.
We are elated to announce that after nearly 11 months of bargaining, we accepted NAF's most recent wage proposal today!!!
While the details are still being finalized, this is an enormous step towards completion of our contract.
BARGAINING UPDATE!
NAF has finally agreed to accept our healthcare proposal! We will now have FREE HEALTHCARE for ourselves and our dependents.
While the fight for livable wages continues, this will radically change our lives.
UNITED WE BARGAIN, DIVIDED WE BEG.
Last week we re-proposed a cheaper & better healthcare plan. NAF stated it would take "a while" for them to respond. Why?
Affordable healthcare is a Reproductive Justice issue. We cannot provide for abortion seekers if we cannot provide for ourselves.
We Deserve Our Contract.
NAF wants to cap direct service salaries
The starting salary for a direct service worker at NAF is 40K, which means:
CEO: 11.25
COO: 6.27
CLO: 5.52
CPO: 4.92
VPO: 4.22 times our starting wage
...but our wages need capped?
Let's talk management salaries!
In 2021:
CEO: $416K
COO: $251K
CLO: $221K
CPO: $197K
VPO: $169K.
NAF hired it's new CEO at $450K. Starting salary of our DS staff is currently $40K.
NAH's direct service staff are amongst the lowest paid employees at the organization.
Investing in our direct service staff is investing in our patients and clinics. Livable wages and affordable healthcare are reproductive justice issues.
We stand united in this fight.
Nine months later we are negotiating twice a week in hopes that NAF will acknowledge the indispensable nature of its direct service staff.
We know that investing in direct service staff means investing in abortion access. Stay tuned for updates on bargaining!
Lennie & Cannoli (They/Them)
Lennie joined NAH in 2017 and has served as both a hotline intake counselor & case manager. They also were one of our original bargaining reps for our first contract.
Thank you Lennie for your incredible dedication to our staff & patients!
We at the National Abortion Hotline Union know that protecting ABORTION workers helps secure access for patients. We will continue to fight for the protection of our direct service staff.
We are unapologetically proud to serve a network of independent abortion providers and their patients.
We believe in the power of solidarity and that ABORTION is essential healthcare. We stand in union to fight for reproductive rights & workers' rights.
