Rep. Adam Smith (D-Washington), top ranking Democrat on the committee, says that of course he does not like Netanyahu (like all good Democrats say now) but that "we benefit from that technology partnership..Israel's been actually having to fight."
This is known as the "Palestine Laboratory." Israeli weapons are tested in real time on the bodies of Palestinians, which the Israeli weapons industry uses in its marketing. Smith is arguing that we should benefit from that human experimentation too.
@dee_497@zunzetrider BPD usually requires a *really* bad childhood. Like, your needs were NEVER met, and the only way you got fed or cared for is by screaming and disrupting things enough that people gave you what you wanted to shut you up.
“Platner will survive this — not because voters are thrilled he was sexting other women, but because they already assume half of Congress is doing the same, or worse.
“And it’s not as if I’m some Platner booster. He’s always struck me as an impulsive dumbass (not unlike me I suppose, except I would never run for Congress). But I'll take a dumbass over Susan Collins, a three-decade incumbent who has rubber-stamped every war she's ever met and just about every major Washington disaster since I was in elementary school.
“Consider how she answered Platner's remark that she'd voted to send him to Iraq. She said ‘that was Platner’s decision to serve. He was not drafted.’
“That's the kind of casual cruelty that falls out of these decorum-humpers the moment an election forces them to face an actual human being. And here's the thing about everyman dumbasses like Platner: they don't talk like that. That line is pure thirty-year operator — the reflex of someone who's spent a career treating war as a line item and the people fighting them as a footnote. These people hold you in contempt and are indecent straight through. They just know which side of the plate the salad fork goes on.“
@AlanaFeral I don't think any of us, when we originally watched idiocracy, ever imagined it would turn out to be not only true, but if anything a sober, muted understatement to what we would experience in our own lifetimes.
@SoundDobad I know this may sound petty, but I can’t stand it when people put photoshop a meth pipe in my mouth. A crack pipe doesn’t have that little bowl at the end. This is why we can’t trust AI. Please make the appropriate edit. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
@cristinvvv@zunzetrider Someone with BPD will deal with getting disciplined at work by insisting that all of their coworkers are in a conspiracy to sabotage them. That their paranoia might allow them to convince themselves that it is true does not change the fact that they are lying.
@cristinvvv@zunzetrider It isn't a moral judgement to say that "people with BPD lie all the time." it's a serious condition and they can't help it any more than someone with tourette syndrome can help their tics. but to say "they're just living a different truth" is almost absurdly obtuse.
It is an ontologically moral and correct position to say that you hate Israel, which is an illegal, genocidal settler colony backed by the full weight of the American imperialist project. You're a bad person if you DON'T hate it.
@zunzetrider what do you think "frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment" and "Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms" manifests as, in daily life?
@zunzetrider I mean, one of the central symptoms of BPD is making up all kinds of lies about everyone around you so that's not exactly an unfair thing to think.
But also BPD comes from being horiffically neglected for your entire childhood, so no doubt the dad IS a piece of shit.
@barbarismcrit What is Sean's deal, anyways? 95% of his posts seem like reasonable leftist stuff but every now and then he throws out a weirdly puritanical/judgy curveball like this
The social technology that america invented to frame darker-skinned people as fundamentally abhuman will perhaps be the most enduring legacy our empire leaves behind. An incredible "success" and a perhaps indelible blot on humanity.
It’s not even just “black people” they hate the darker people in their own races. Just look at how Indians talk about darker skin Indians. How Koreans talk about any Korean 2 shades darker than the rest of them. It’s insidious.
Hamawy served as a combat surgeon in Iraq, which we invaded based on lies told by Ari Fleischer. Hamawy told me yesterday that on heavy days of battle he’d operate on as many as 30-40 American servicemembers, triaging where he had to.
Ari bears significant responsibility for every single one of those maimed men and women that Hamawy worked to save.
Now to have the balls to link him to Al Qaeda is not remotely the most shameful thing he’s done in his life, but it has to be in the top ten.
