National Association of Language Advisers - Independent network for professionals who support the learning & teaching of languages in all stages of UK education
A thought provoking presentation from Camilla Smith on a social justice perspective in languages education starting from an acknowledged political position.
The example of an environmental theme embedding grammar illustrated what can be done in the classroom
A syllabus may mention social equality but if it is organised by grammar rather than social equality the syllabus may be thin on social justice issues
Examples of how a theme of colonialism can integrate a focus on both social justice issues and grammar.
Thank you Joe

Thanks to @jennibindon & Vera Koehler- Lewis for sharing the experience of the West Country Schools Trust of a standardised curriculum as a base that can be built on & interpreted differently for schools in the Trust
Teachers freed to think about how to teach
