This medical condition wasn't a blessing to him as he went blind, was confined to bed and eventually died.

Doctors who studied him as a medical case study discovered that Reiner had a rare medical condition called acromegaly. Rainer's case, was caused by a tumour on his pituitary gland which led to an overproduction of growth hormones in his body.
