Jacob is trying to distort between right to privacy and police’s primary duty of maintaining law and order.

Under whose orders, you ask? The same police whose job is to stop your “peaceful” protesters from turning Jantar Mantar into another free-for-all of stone-pelting, property damage, and selective amnesia about previous riots.

Privacy as a fundamental right? Puttaswamy never said your face becomes sacred the moment you decide to stand in a public space, scream at the government, and get filmed by a hundred phones including your own media colleagues. You have zero reasonable expectation of privacy when you’re out there wanting to be seen.

The van is matching faces against criminal databases and known troublemakers… not reading your diary. If the names popping up have clean records, they walk free. If they don’t, tough. That’s called law and order, not fascism.

And the selective outrage is exhausting. Your channel and every other newsroom in the country happily runs CCTV grabs, mobile videos, and face IDs of “accused” the second it suits the narrative. Suddenly when Delhi Police does the same thing to prevent the next round of chaos, it’s a constitutional crisis that needs the CJI’s personal attention?

To accept you as a neutral "messiah" requires a rather severe case of institutional amnesia regarding your decade at Twitter (now X).

- Under your leadership, Twitter routinely censored accounts, shadow-banned users & altered algos globally at the behest of various state actors & domestic political pressures.

- When Twitter operated under you, it regularly complied with legal takedown requests from govts worldwide including India, Turkey & Germany under local legal compliance frameworks (Section 69A of India's IT Act, European Union GDPR regulations, etc.).

Now, to understand the absurdity of the claim, 1 must look at what "BitChat" actually represents in software architecture & regulatory reality.

If BitChat is genuinely a P2P, decentralized protocol, no govt can physically "take it down" any more than they can "take down" BitTorrent/the Mathematics of RSA Encryption. If it can be taken down, then it is a centralized service hosted on corporate infra, making it subject to the standard laws of whichever country’s land it operates in.

Anyway, nothing drives downloads/developer interest faster in tech circles than claiming a major nation-state is terrified of your code.
