On March 5th, 1945, Lena Baker, a maid, mother of three and former cotton-picker, was the first woman to be executed in the state of Georgia. She was wrongly convicted for killing her white employer, Ernest Knight, after he held her captive for days and threatened to kill her if she went back home to her family. Knight promised to kill Lena Baker with an iron bar. She took his gun in self defense and shot Knight. She immediately reported the incident to the authorities and told them exactly what happened and how she shot him in self defense. She was charged with Capital Murder at trial by an all-white male jury. Baker was the only woman executed by electrocution in Georgia. 60 years later in 2005, Baker was granted an unconditional pardon by the state of Georgia.
Don’t forget Lena Baker!! She’s just like all of the innocent black lives lost today and desired to be forgotten and thrown away.
Today marks what would have been Trayvon Martin’s 31st birthday. We remember his life and renew our commitment to justice, dignity, and a future where every child is safe and valued and where Black Lives Matter (as much to some and at all to others). We are praying for Trayvon’s parents.

Dr. Gladys West, the Black mathematician whose brilliance made GPS possible, has passed at 95. Born on a Dinwiddie County farm during the Great Depression, she overcame segregation to become a scientist and map the world—literally. May we never forget her legacy or the path she paved for generations of mathematicians.
Today we remember Stanley Davis III, whose life was taken far too soon after being pursued on his dirt bike by a Boynton Beach police officer. This tragedy never should have happened. We honor Stanley’s memory & continue to stand with his family. Rest In Power.
This is Karinya Chen. A 15 year old girl who had battled terminal bone cancer for 5 years. She was at "Hospice Austin" and had tickets to go see a Florence and the Machine concert.
She couldn't due to health concerns. But the hospice reached out to Florence and was able to explain the situation and Florence came to sing just to her.🥹🥹
Interesting-
When monks leave their monasteries to walk for peace, it's not symbolic, it's a warning. They don't seek attention. They don't ask for power. They walk only when the world is out of balance.
If you see them, offer food and water.
They carry nothing but what's given to them. This isn't a protest. It's a prayer in motion.
The fact that Buddhist monks
walking for peace in America should make us all pause. This is serious. This is rare. And it matters.
They're finally in town Please keep them safe.
