From Scarcity to Sustainability
ERITREA ― The country is often described as one of the most challenging farming environments in the Horn of Africa, with dry landscapes, unpredictable rainfall, and no perennial rivers.
Yet over the past decades, the country has steadily reshaped parts of its agricultural system through a focus on capturing and conserving every drop of rain.
Across the highlands and lowlands, communities have built close to a thousand earth dams, small reservoirs, and water catchments to store seasonal rainfall.
Hillsides that were once heavily eroded have been transformed through stone terracing and soil conservation work, slowing water runoff and helping replenish underground aquifers.
Tree-planting campaigns and land rehabilitation projects have also contributed to environmental recovery in several regions.
These combined efforts starts to bring visible impacts. Access to safe drinking water has now reached over 85% of the population. Livestock numbers and agricultural output have also increased many folds, reflecting a broader shift from scarcity toward managed sustainability.

Former president Hassan Sheikh must cease his violent actions against opposition leaders and the public. His legal term is up. We need to proceed to elections based on consensus immediately. I urge the Somali people to remain strong & security forces to protect our citizens. 1/3
Defamatory narrative on Eritrea, peddled for many decades now, was never a simple case of sloppy journalism or paucity of authentic/verifiable information.
In its recent manifestations, the demonization campaign stems from and is driven by the consortium, the unholy alliance so to speak, of forces bent on reversing and rolling back Eritrea's hard-won and inviolable independence.
In this perspective, https://t.co/512O7pb8z2's timely initiative to expose the toxic campaign on the basis of fact-based, well-researched, and nuanced analyses is laudable indeed. It will also substantially enrich and complement previous and foundational documents (Responses to UNHCR Eligibility Guidelines etc.) that are already in the public domain.

@TomGardner18 We live in a corrupted world which idly watched and continue to watch the massacre of innocent Palestinian civilians among them destitute and helpless children.
@TomGardner18 Stop joking 🙃 Who is handling who 🤔 No authentic democracy in this dimension, i.e., no one can claim to be or act as if they are the advocate or guardian of democracy, human rights, rule of law, and justice.
Good Read: #Eritrean Beauty Engraved in Names
by Kidane Shimendi
"With its enchanting landscapes, warm hospitality, profound peace, sweeping coastal vistas dotted with remarkable islands, rich historical tapestry, and diverse cultural heritage, Eritrea presents a mosaic of splendor. These elements are genuinely interwoven to shape Eritrea’s unique identity. Nowhere is this beauty more quietly yet powerfully recorded than in the names carried by its places".

During his historic visit to #Ethiopia in July 2015, President Barack Obama described the election of #Ethiopian government as "democratically elected" after the ruling coalition won 100% of parliamentary seats on that year.
Only few months after that, the people of Ethiopia rose against the EPRDF government and unseat the government by popular demonstrations and civil disobedience. Down Down Woyane!!
History seems to be repeating itself with vengeance in front of our eyes with Uhuru Kenyata, albiet with no comparison between Obama and Uhuru. Down Down Abiy! is coming soon to Ethiopia!
