This week, together with @ChairmanEUMC, we conducted a joint visit to the Western Balkans. This visit highlights the strong cooperation between NATO and EU militaries, and our shared commitment to stability across the region.
Our trip began in Kosovo, where we met with the @NATO_KFOR Commander, Maj. Gen. Özkan Ulutaş, Mr. Albin Kurti, Mr. Ejup Maqedonci, and the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force, Lt. Gen. Bashkim Jashari. KFOR continues to fulfil its mandate under UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for all people living in Kosovo.
Next, in Sarajevo, we addressed the Faculty of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Security Studies at the University of Sarajevo, and exchanged views with students on a range of topics, including continued NATO-EU cooperation in support of peace and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and regional stability.
We also met with the Commander of @EUFORBiH, Maj. Gen. Maurizio Fronda, the Commander of @natobih, Brig. Gen. Matthew Valas, the Head of NATO’s Political Engagement Support Cell, Ambassador Vladimir Vučinić, the EU Special Representative, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, and the Operational Commander for the EU mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lt. Gen. Ludovic Pinon de Quincy. We also held a joint office call with the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gen. Gojko Knežević.
