No it’s more about how people can’t differentiate between what sports are about (i.e. wins) & measuring how an individual performs in a team sport, how he impacts his team’s chances of winning by how he plays the game.
Murray went off too in a way that he regressed later. Other teams went a bit longer. LAL, w/ better health & roster & chemistry improvements catch up w/ the non-Jokic aspects to DEN (& others), along w/ a rested/recovered LeBron & AD, will put them in a great spot to win it all.
I think the point he misses is that the Lakers series (although a sweep is a sweep) was one of the most competitive & smaller margin 4 game series we’ve had. Play those games over, there may be different results. Crucial moments in the final minutes could’ve went either way.
Just rewatched game 6 of the 2016 finals and I found something interesting
From 5:38 of the 3rd to 2:59 of the 4th:
- LeBron scored or assisted on 35 of the Cavaliers 36 points.
- Drew 5 fouls (Pfs + Fts)
- Fgs that weren't assisted or Scored by LeBrons all missed.
My Top 12 NBA Players of All-Time (no specific order):
LeBron, Jordan, Kareem, Shaq, Hakeem, Kobe, Wilt, Russell, Duncan, Magic, Bird, Steph.
I’m pretty set on these 12. Going to do a deeper dive to come out w/ my definitive list since I haven’t done one in awhile.
@Sageof6turtles For me after 1 & 2 it’s one big tier imo of 3-5 players who all feel weird to list at 3 bc it seems like more players should be better than them last year besides only 2. Idk that’s just my initial impression ranking players after this past season.
That being said, I’d say both groups are wrong. It’s important to note that it is not an insult to be *one of* the best players even if you’re not always *the* best player.
I think the reason some argue Kobe > Shaq in ‘00 & onward, is bc of others who attempt to minimize & ridicule Kobe’s achievements in relation to Shaq. It’s unfortunate to see tbh, bc they each achieved incredible success w/ high level impact during their time together.
@Deezy1994 Can’t argue Kobe wasn’t the best player on his team from first title to retirement lol
So it doesn’t matter anyway. Also a lot of folks still believed Wade was the better player in 2011. Although I don’t, I have Bron an edge over Wade by then.
@Sageof6turtles Agree he’s last on this list, although I disagree on the evaluation, but I assume it’s exaggerated for emphasis & relative to himself instead of NBA context wise.
Also it’s shameless to choose one of LeBron’s “less great” seasons vs the other three’s arguably best season lol.
Notes:
The years listed are estimates for my list of GOATs, I grant anything within 1-2 years.
1947-1950 is left blank due to small sample size & a handful of players who have a case as GOAT.
There can also be argued a GOAT between Mikan & Russell based on longevity weight.
My list of GOATs throughout NBA History (1947-2023):
George Mikan (1951-1961)
Bill Russell (1962-1967)
Wilt Chamberlain (1968-1979)
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1980-1997)
Michael Jordan (1998-2015)
LeBron James (2016-2023)
What’s yours?

I don’t think we understand how great 2011 LeBron actually was.
I’m talking 2011 as in overall…the full season…the total body of work…not just 3 games of 1 series.
@216SuperBrowns No, but that shouldn’t be a knock at all. One of the greatest offensive players ever, one of the best offensive engines to build around, otherworldly shooting & spacing, puts more pressure on defenses than almost anyone. Top 13 for me, an incredible peak & ever-growing longevity.
