@databallr I'm sure it's more of the collective factor. Very similar to some of SGAs defensive analytics. They are good, but not elite by any means. The system allows those guards to take risks, thrive on easier matchups, and not see half of the consequences.

@Betsycashmoney Neither the Aspiration nor Daktronics deals were ever reported to the league. You can't convince me that these billionaires and Kawhi's team (who were reported to ask for this accommodation during FA) didn't know the rules on this.

@Betsycashmoney Aspiration was the original jersey patch. A fraudulent company. Once they were known to be fraudulent, the 1% owner of the Clippers invested further at the same time late payments needed to be made to Kawhi, and Kawhi never did a single thing for that company.

This is not to prove market rate. It's to prove they did anything at all with a company that is fraudulent and company is receiving investments from the team owner while failing

The NBA also tracks all sponsors. They need to be reported. These instances with Kawhi were not reported for obvious reasons,

This is laughable. I foresee Adam Silver losing his job over the next few years. There's zero chance that the other NBA owners agree with this.

Set this precedent, and you can only punish this offense if someone openly admits to it.

@UsherNBA I think if you listened to the evidence laid out, you would find genuine interest in it. This is not a minor case and could functionally change the association. The NBA provides so much insight to its fans. This is blatant corruption.

@ianoflo Given the new CBA and luxury taxes, I think that's a possibility, but some ownership groups are at a massive disadvantage. Given the multi billion dollar investment, I think they'd rather know the rules they're playing by

Owners will want to work within the restrictions laid out, not make this the MLB. That said, they could save on luxury taxes given current CBA

@Ohno_Badtakes Balmer is more wealthy than all the other owners combined. The less wealthy owners do not want to get in that bidding war.

Also, luxury taxes that would have been imposed on the Clippers (if this pay were even legal) would exceed $250m, which goes to the owners as well

@SwipaCam I would say yes, simply because the true guard stars of this era all have adequate ball handling and playmaking, allowing their teams to play through them at PG. There are not many table setter PGs anymore.

SGA, Luka, etc. would historically be SGs in different eras

There are many ways to dominate a basketball game. Russell Westbrook attempted all of them, all of the time. He shot, passed, rebounded and attacked with unmatched volume and ferocity. No player has ever occupied more of a basketball game.
