Thibs coaching philosophy:
•Play starters 45+ mins
•Never develop bench
•Pray Brunson bails him out
•No real offensive sets
Got exposed vs Indy. This firing was 2 years overdue.
@RobertBelkbrown I do like Bridges, but I don’t see why Thibs can’t play him 30 mins a game instead of 40. Give him a breather and play the damn bench.
Best season of my adult life. Need to figure out bench situation. This is not a talent issue. We cannot rely on 5 guys all season and expect to win. Good teams adjust lineups, Knicks don’t.
Would have been nice to try out new lineups all season for situations like the Pacers.
@BroadwayBrunson I’m not a fan, I really hope they can switch things up and get a new coach. He had all season to figure out different lineups for different situations.
He also refuses to run plays. We got this far off of pure talent, but that’s not enough. Indiana beat us because of coaching.
Either Indiana is that much more talented than we are, or something else is wrong… Thibs had all season to build chemistry amongst 10 players, not 5 players. This ass kicking was due.
I’ve been reading tweets about the fact that Kat is soft. His advanced defensive stats last year would say otherwise, but for the sake of argument, let’s call him soft… Brunson, Mikal, Hart and OG are all DOGS, time we add a kat to the family.
Randle is a super talented player who takes off multiple possessions every game. Frustrating player to root for, I am happy he is gone. Donte will be missed, had great moments in the last playoff run, but he’s probably the 7th best player on this Knicks team.
Massive upgrade offensively. Towns is one of the best shooting bigs of all time. You think Brunson had a good year last year? Now the paint is wide open. Defensively Towns is historically not great, although he had a great year last year (could be because of Gobert).
ESPN’s decision to lay off @ZachLowe_NBA is a clear indication of what is their plan for the future. They will focus on hot takes instead of real basketball coverage. Horrible decision. Lowe is a big reason why I was inspired to create my blog. Best writer of my generation.
Is 5 first rounders a lot? Sure. Are the Knicks contenders? YES. For those of you concerned about OG, there’s a lot of negative things I can say about Dolan, but he has never had an issue being in the luxury tax. He pays NBA players. I’ve never been so bullish on a Knicks team.
Oh also I didn’t comment on the trade. Another great trade. Knicks are better now than they were 5 days ago. Good OG insurance with Bojan, although Knicks need OG to be serious. Slowly becoming a team of shooters.
