National Bureau of Statistics and FAO Launches Technical Mission to Develop South Sudan’s First National Agriculture Census. JUBA, South Sudan – April 20, 2026 – The NBS, in collaboration with the FAO officially launched a HTL support mission and a User-Producer Workshop.
Restoring effective local governance in South Sudan requires decisive leadership and institutional reforms. The Local Government Board must reclaim its oversight role and ensure strict adherence to legal frameworks.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), in collaboration with UNICEF, has officially opened the Data interpretation and Report Compilation (DIRC) Workshop for the 2025 South Sudan Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS7).

NBS DG OPENS NSDS II VALIDATION WORKSHOP

Dr. Augustino Ting Mayai, the DG of NBS, opened the NSDS II Validation Workshop organized by the NBS in collaboration with ECA, EAC, and UNRCO to validate the assessment and strategic framework for NSDS II.
The World Health Organization (WHO) paid a courtesy call on NBS Director general Dr. Augustino Ting to discuss strengthening the collaboration between NBS & WHO. Dr. Humphrey Karamagi delivered three key reports that have been long awaited.
NBS DG Dr. Augustino T. Mayai met with FEWS NET to consult on implementing the FEWS NET 8 Knowledge-Base Project in South Sudan. The project strengthens food security & early warning and will launch in late Jan 2026, with NBS as lead Gov’t agency.
Our Director General is representing South Sudan at the 19th Session of the Committee of DGs of National Statistics Offices in Addis Ababa.
This year’s focus: the role of statistics in promoting justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparations.
