My clients are receiving letters from SSA regarding regarding the SSA no longer accepting returns from Zenworks (https://t.co/fRL7kSRuzF). Company sent an email that all was good with no explanation. #taxtwitter Does anyone know what is going on?
#taxtwitter I have just picked up the 2nd new bookkeeping client in the past two weeks that their prior bookkeeper had set up expenses as bank accounts in QBO instead of expense accounts. Did I miss the memo on a new trend in accounting?
@TWhittCPA When I told a client bonuses had to be run through payroll this is the response I received.
"I thought that was the whole purpose of a bonus, not to pay taxes?"
@MikeSyl36625988 We are also going to add a clause to our tax engagement letter making it that it is their responsibility to comply with this law. I'm concerned that if they fail to file they will be thinking this was our responsibility to inform them or file for them.
@MikeSyl36625988 I think he big issue here is what is considered UPL. We have informed our clients of the law and we have indicate that we can assist with the administrate function of filing but will not be in a position to answer questions or provide guidance as this could be UPL.
If I don't tell them, they are not even going to know a filing is due and once they hear filing they will think oh Nick will take care of it.
I'm curious if others are preparing to help their clients with this filing?
FinCen B.7 Q&A on whether an accountant is needed for the new BOI filing.
FinCEN expects that many, if not most, reporting companies will be able to submit their beneficial ownership information to FinCEN on their own using the guidance FinCEN has issued #taxtwitter
#taxtwitter 7:35 PM and last signed 8879 received and of course completing the return was delayed because of the stimulus. A fitting end to the 2021 tax season.
Oddly enough people that wait 8 months to get me their tax info and then call every couple of days to see "how it's going" just doesn't motivate me. #TaxTwitter
@LorilynWilson How about child tax credit at conception and eligibility for EIC? Although the IRS proof of residency requirements for tax preparers could be a little awkward, especially early in the pregnancy.
