@ButlerGuru@SethDavisHoops He’s coached cbb as an assistant and new school cbb is a lot more like an nba g league type where he was a head coach. Thad Matta will assist him in his transition as a special assistant
I am still under the belief that Thad Matta will not be the head coach for Butler next season. The IndyStar article does not change the situation. Thad staying on as head coach next season would be a deviation from the current plan.
Thad not picking up a guy mid year to play PG has to be the last straw that gets him fired. There are PGs available to play right now but Butler didn’t put in the work to make it happen. They could’ve easily picked someone up around the new year that could have saved their season
@ButlerGuru He wouldn’t come back if you gave him your ankle but he might come back if you give him your entire savings and 25% of all your future earnings.
@hoosier_captain Best way to get to be one of those 10-15 schools is to get a guy that makes you into one of those. To do that you have to have a coach that doesn’t leave right away getting a hot mid major coach will always result in disaster for Butler. Only real way is to get someone 100% in.
@hoosier_captain Holtman left in June we hired Jordan like a week later you weren’t gonna be able to do a search. The best long term solution is to get someone that wants to make a career at Butler not use them as a stepping stone. If we get an outsider we will have the same problem again.
@hoosier_captain Thads coaching career in no ways embodied the butler way. Lavall didn’t recruit players to play the butler way and never put an emphasis on tough defense low turnover basketball. On top of the fact he in no way should’ve been hired after his performance at Milwaukee.
@hoosier_captain Nored has a very high ceiling as he is someone that wouldn’t jump to a better opportunity like others have in the past. He’s been an NBA assistant outside of the Stevens system and has coached for USA basketball having someone from the pros embodies the current college landscape
