Transforming rural healthcare means treating the whole person—mind and body together.

Through @ncdhhs' Rural Health Transformation Program, North Carolina is expanding behavioral health services across rural communities by growing mental health clinics, deploying mobile crisis teams, launching school-based initiatives, and integrating behavioral health directly into primary care.

@ncahec is proud to help in this charge by continuing to advance the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) in counties across NC. By equipping primary care teams with dedicated behavioral health care managers and psychiatric consultation support, CoCM helps practices deliver whole-person care right in the clinics patients already know and trust. 🏥 Collaboration, persistence, and problem-solving led to a big win for providers in #IredellCounty. Working together, Credentialing Specialist Melody Josey and Northwest Area Health Education Center's Lara Dickerson uncovered 258 missing provider-to-PHP affiliations that were contributing to Medicaid claim denials. Their efforts helped practices correct enrollment issues, recover denied claims, and strengthen support for providers and patients.
