Former SLIS Dean, Dr. Irene Owens, was honored in an intimate ceremony unveiling her portrait on our wall of Deans. Retired SLIS Professor, Dr. Ismail Abdullahi, gave a moving tribute to Dr. Owens. Presiding was SLIS' Interim Dean, Dr. Patrick Roughen.

As we celebrate homecoming, SLIS spotlights alumna Maggie Poole Bryant, who has the distinction of being NCCU’s oldest living alumna at 108 years old. Mrs. Bryant earned a Library Science degree in 1943, after an initial degree in history (‘38) and before earning a masters (‘57).
